what if : technology : ARTIFICIAL BLACK HOLES BY 2010 [+] ballot by xaman created Tue Jan 04, 05 According to Scientific American and other reliable sources, Scientist are expecting to produce (micro) black holes by 2010 using the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) which is scheduled to start working by 2007. If successful, this experiment would provide for the first time evidence for the ultimate theory that would unify the Standard Model of Particles (i.e. quantum physics) with General Relativity (i.e. gravitation). Now the problem is: If the standard model is correct, there would be no black hole at all. If S. Hawkings is correct the produced micro black holes would be very unstable exploding within a tiny fraction of a second, but... If A. Einstein is right, the black hole will be STABLE and then it would settle at the center of the earth and start accreting material (very slowly at first), but nevertheless devouring it.
