That's the title of an article I just read over dinner in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

A freshman Republican legislator, Rep. Timothy Bearden (Villa Rica) wants to make Georgia the second state in the Union, after Louisiana, to consider child sodomy a crime punishable by death. (No one in Louisiana has ever been given the ultimate penalty for such a crime.)

Current Georgia law calls for people convicted of aggravated sodomy- forcible sodomy- to serve 10 to 30 years in prison. Bearden's bill would add a caveat to that sentence, calling for sodomizers to receive life in prison or the death penalty if the victim is younger than 12. The bill is considered a long shot.

So, I ask you all- would this be fair and just, or cruel and unusual punishment?

Personally, I think that the death sentence would be a bit over the top, not to mention too easy an out for the baby-raping bastards. I think they ought to suffer for what they do.

I say throw him in federal prison with a double life sentence so he could be used as a general deterrent. The more sick perverts we have in there, hopefully, the less likely someone will be to committ such a disgusting act. They get thrown in prison and they become the victims of those sick pervs!

Most pedophiles were victims of other pedophiles so their actions or behavior is part of a vicious cycle. Maybe they should be treated with some form of castration and phyco therapy but they should also have jail time for commiting a violent act against a child. Also they should be implanted with tracking devices and not be allowed to live near children. If they don't want to comply with that then lock em up forever or fry em.
