They'll spend more than that on the inauguration hoopla next week, way more than any president's parade before and some people have said it would be a noble and gracious move for our Georgy boy to call off his celebration and spend the money helping someone who needs it right now

NO, that parade is the best way to blow tens of millions of dollars!! :D
well duh, yeah.. seeing as it hasn't even been a month since the worst disaster in history
Spend it on Bush's impeachment
it could be spent on his impeachment

I think it should be spnet on an ENORMOUS bubble bath, with water jets and everything, where me and my lady duck can get down to Quacking each other sily!

Well, you have to realize that VP Cheney's prescription-drug stipend's coming out of that fund. And that's gotta be what, fifteen mil off the bat?

I couldn't agree more Jyl! that $40 Million should be spent on Kleenex and diapers for the liberals in this country and the euro-cry-babies.....God knows you're going to need it over the next 4 years!

The same could be said about most government programs. Hell they'll give 40 million to a painter who covers a picture of the virgin mary in elephant dung. Have to support the arts, especially the arts that nobody wants to pay for.

If you're looking for a way to trim down wasteful government spending I suggest you look at other areas first.

How about tsunami relief?

Herzog is right, we have other programs that are much more wasteful but that's no reason not to cut Bush's inaugural. It really should be spent elsewhere, LIKE PAYING OFF THE DEBT!

$40M is a little unseemly to say the least, given the recent disaster and the ongoing disaster in Iraq.

Also, it's very unfair that they are asking the city of D.C. to pick up a major part of the tab.
'Taxation without representation' takes on new meaning in that context.
