COMMENTS:
It's interesting -- I've thought the same thing. Just look at Alberto Gonzales -- a buddy of Bush, a man who worked vigorously to justify Abu Ghraib, and now he's gonna be Attorney General.

That said, can you imagine the campaigning and confusion and all that if they all ran separately?

Of course they could run together...

"Vote Bush/ Cheney/ Rice/ Gonzales/ Rumsfeld/ Johanns ..."

No. The ensuing cronyism and mental inbreeding far outweighs any benefits of "having worked with them before."

The alternative would be voting for all these separately. Maybe that's a better idea.

The dogma "It's not WHAT you know, but WHO you know" is the most dangerous concept in recorded history. I personally know of one man, who's now a Navy captain commanding an Ohio-class boomer, got his commission and command by virtue of being the aide to a three-star admiral for two years, knowing how the man liked his coffee in the morning, covering for the three affairs the admiral had, one of them with an enlisted sailor. The man is about as competent as I would be at a Klan rally.

Hell NO, this practice shouldn't be continued! It always baffled me more than anything else in politics! Sure, there would be confusion... but it really is our job as whiny citizens to educate ourselves on all our lawmakers' credentials and then vote for them. What kind of nonsense is this "prepackaged deal" crap? I can't believe no one rises up against it.
