COMMENTS:
Actually, I've had a couple of 'breakdowns' before; never been hospitalized thank God. Though I'm sure there are people here who think that would be a good thing!!

I've had moments where I just shut out the outside world and "nurse my wounds". I also try and get away as frequently as possible. It's amazing how just staying somewhere else for two days makes you feel like you've been on a vacation. Just get in the car and go....leave all your stress behind you.

Yes, and was numbedly amazed that I was still alive. Nothing like getting pushed past existing thresholds of endurance to discover new ones.

yeah, but I've pulled off miracles before. Never had any breakdowns though.

I don't have a breaking point and if I do I will never reach it because I always take the path of least resistance. All these people around me have these extra-curriculars and jobs and deadlines LOL I have a good system of avoiding them all. It's called american sloth syndrome. Luckily I have a fabulous metabolism so I will never get the related american jiggle syndrome.

There are different definitions of "breaking point".

In my case, it was being pushed beyond what I could endure; but I found I endured it anyway. Somewhat numbing, but ... more a realization than a "breakdown".

Good question. I guess I have because I have had to make drastic life changes at times to regain my sanity. But I have also found - especially in the last couple of years, that I am stronger than I thought. So perhaps it's a moving target as we mature?

My father's death, Bush's re-election. Both of them bruised me worse than I care to consider.
