CAN YOU IDENTIFY THE SYMPTOMS OF A STROKE?

[+] serious ballot by brar
created Fri Jan 28, 05

Symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. A stroke victim may suffer brain damage within a few minutes. However, if you can identify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, call 9-1-1 and relate the symptoms to a dispatcher, you can help save lives.

If you can ask three questions to someone in difficulty -

can you smile?
can you raise both arms?
can you speak a short sentence?

you can help identify the symptoms of stroke. (And then call 9-1-1 and let trained health professionals take over.)

So, can you help identify the symptoms of stroke?

Good ballot - thanks, you might help save a life.

There are other subtler symptoms, but those are biggies!

Often at the onset of a stroke, a person smells something strange - anything from cherries to poo.

it is common for a stroke to occur when that person is sleeping, so when they wake up, they will have the above signs and symptoms.
