COMMENTS:
I find it hard to take FOX or even CNN seriously. To me they seem defensive and superficial. I watch CBC regularly, but also TVO, the BBC, TV5 and read web sites from around the world when I want to get international news. My favourite is TVO's Diplomatic Immunity. In terms of Canadian news, however, maybe the CBC is too pro-Canada for FOX. But then, so are Global and CTV. After all in FOX's eyes, we're just a bunch of pinko, dope-smoking gays. Try telling Stephen Harper that.
FOX is like tabloid news - fluff, sex, loud opinions and sensationalism, and all for ratings.
I'm actually quite sick and tired of the national Canadian media. What does it say about a country who's media is CONSTANTLY fixated on the U.S.A. and it's policies, and is constantly taking a comparitive "holier-than-thou" stance on political and cultural issues? Not much I say. IMO there are so many issues at home we should be hearing about, but all we get is this sophomoric fucking crap from a fat festering government funded media.
I guess I answered my own question.
Fox is comprized of zionist correct "conservatives".They are good for exposing organinizations like the ACLU and chumps like Jesse Jackson, the ninth circuit, ... but fall short of being truly conservative. They always attack the symptoms but like all mainsteam media never the root cause.
And don't think we don't have any media bias here in Canada. Take Izzy Asper's Can-West Global for example. When's the last time you saw a new item about the Israel/Palestine issue? There is a reason for it.
I find some of the documentaries and news "discussion" shows on CBC quite good. There's seems to be an effort to show more than one side of a story. But nowadays with so many sources available, I can't see anyone just watching one network or reading one newspaper to get an objective point of view. Everybody I know takes in more than more media sousrce for international news at least.
Mithrandir, Fox is just that. The problem is that about eighty million people here in the States see it exactly as advertised- Fair and Balanced. They gladly accept the pablum they're fed, never ask where it comes from or how much it costs, and convince their children to do the same.
BTB- there is no "liberal media". that's just the blind of the year.

A train crash caused by a suicidal maniac in LA or a capsized lobster boat in Newfoundland? The US has 9 times the population that we do so you can expect 9 times the news stories.
*new worthy = news worthy
" IMO there are so many issues at home we should be hearing about, but all we get is this sophomoric fucking crap from a fat festering government funded media. " Without a government funded media source there would be far away and isolated communities completely cut off from the outside world. This is why the CBC was put into place, to make sure people have a media source where a private media source won't go. It wouldn't be economically feasible for them to set up in an isolated area with a small population. And the key is funded - not controlled.
The mainstream media in the US is PC.That's as liberal as it gets imho.Just because it's PCness is tempered with some neocon influences on networks like FOX doesn't mean the media bias isn't liberal. Most networks are very liberal.I concider myself a true conservative(NOT a neocon)and it is rare that I see my views represented anywhere including FOX.
Just the point that there are so many ballots about Fox news proves that Fox is doing something right in its attempt to boost ratings. ..btw Fox is a complete joke
They all are.The internet is the only good source for news.
All TV news leans at least slightly to the right. Fox News, though, is nothing more than outright GOP propaganda.
I wish we here in the US had a chance to be brainwashed by Canadian tv news. I can't speak of people who might live close to the border but here in central US -- Kentucky -- the only foreign news outlet at all on tv is BBC America's 1/2 hr. report on mostly what has been reported on all day by the 'regular' media. I watch cause sometimes they have scraps of news from places the US media ignores but most of the difference is they might have different pictures of events that were not available otherwise. they all suck, are superficial, sensationalist and it is very true what the man said about what passes for debate on lots of these shows.
