COMMENTS:
As usual those tubthumpers are less than willing to actually do any of the fighting themselves and feel quite justified in sending poor kids to fight their 'patriotic' wars for them.
This may be true for the major wars that were fought like the world wars, civil wars, etc. But there were many wars in the past such as the crusades, the islamic jihads, the start of the long chain of wars between Isreal and Palestine, and some of the Chinese Wars have been fought due to religious reasons.
Never in history an idea or a feeling produced wars. People are doing it.
what a bunch of bupkus

I suspect: 1. Patriotism/ Nationalism 2. Religion
That would be a bullseye...
"Ideas and feelings are generated by people" Right! => war waged in the name of one idea or another is generated by people too. Damn! I finaly understand the "filioque" now. ;) Don't be afraid to belief in something! Fear those who use those belives and yourself to achieve their personal/group goals.
I don't think it's patriotism. I think it's the fact that wars are expensive (so the banks make a fortune again), they divide the world population (so they do not challenge the status quo), and they are profitable (for the type of sick fucks who make money from the peoples' deaths). The reason behind any war is just for show. Patriotism is fine. The people who attempt to show us that we are under threat from scary sounding "others" are theones who are wrong. National differences whould be cherished and celebrated rather than attempting to create a global mall with a McDonalds and a Starbucks on every street.
Patriotism - the belief that "my country right or wrong" is the way to go. The elimination of any rational or critical thought.
