An appeals court has ordered Judith Miller, of the NY Times, and Matthew Cooper, of Time, to reveal how they learned the identity of outed CIA agent Valerie Plame. If they refuse, they'll face 18 months in jail.

However, neither of these journalists broke the story; it was Robert Novak who first published the leaked information in 2003. While I have no fondness for Judith Miller, I am not aware that she actually wrote about it, at all.

So ... why isn't Novak being threatened with contempt, as well?

Something shady happening here?
