There was news regarding Milosovic, Iritrea, Ethiopia, Bosnia and Chechnya, but not near as much as you think there would be for town and villages having the locals chopped up with machetes. Why was the news coverage so much lower then if it happened in a Western country?

Less access to these areas

didnt affect the West
There was plenty of coverage
Because the jews are the only ppl to be oppressed.

Sad to say it, but none of those parts of the world have any strategic or economic value to the West, therefore any occurences, no matter how horrific, tend to back-page our newspapers.

It's all very simple.

The US controls most world media since it's literally the center of the world (I'm not sure why, it's really sad in a way). Christian extremists killing Muslims doesn't look good for the US or at least the neo-conservatives who own those companies. It's a lot easier for majority of America's uneduated to hate "ragheads" than watch how Christians kill non-combatants. Osama bin Laden kills 3,000 and it's on the news 24/7. 2,000 die in Kosovo on almost a monthly basis and you can't even get it on CNN's bottomline headline news.

Simple as that.
