Spade Cooley isn't very well known today. He was a very popular western swing singer in the 40's and 50's. He beat and kicked his wife to death in 1961 because he somehow got the idea that she was having an affair with Roy Rogers (the b movie western star - husband of Dale Evans). How he got the idea no one knows, and there was no evidence of any affair (although Cooley himself knew Rogers very well - they had been friends for years). He just got drunk and got the idea into his head somehow and went totally nuts.
