The former had nothing to do with 9/11, though Bush always linked the two in his speeches and press conferences; the latter were never found. However, we committed to a war with Iraq on that false premise, sacrificing a hundred thousand civilian Iraqi lives and over 1,000 American lives - and counting. CRISIS: Healthcare in the U.S. At least 40 million people are currently without health insurance in our country. Medicare does not cover the cost of medication for seniors. Insurance rates and doctors' fees are skyrocketing. U.S.-manufactured pharmaceuticals are the costiest in the world, forcing many people to choose between eating or taking their meds. DISTRACTION: GWBush's manufactured Social Security 'crisis' (which even a large number of his fellow Republicans do not agree is a crisis). Other manufactured distractions include: the issue of gay marriage, prayer in schools, and the size of flags displayed in schoolrooms. It seems like we could all agree on the important issues - like safe-sex education to curb the AIDS, and prevent unwanted pregnancies (THUS ABORTION), and keeping our environment clean - so our air and water don't make us sick.
