COMMENTS:
6 out of 7 college professors in America voted for Kerry and given the jobs most red necks I’ve met have, I'd say education wasn't high on their list of priorities.
Goin back to a comment on a previous poll, not sure by who, it went something like "ideas don't have to work in the real world to be accepted by academics." I'll let you figure that one out. Also, how many votes would Kerry have gotten without whino, do-nothing haters who don't realize the reality of the real world. Note extended use of the word REAL, not IDEAL.
First of all, just because someone has a blue collar job, doesn't make them stupid. This is so ridiculous I don't even know where to start. Are you kidding? Democrats bus in welfare recipients and you are bashing people that work hard for a living? Does anyone else find something wrong with that? How about notoriously democrat labor unions? Do you understand labor unions have members that actually do blue collar work? As far as college professors go, I'd rather have someone who picks up garbage vote for me than a professor like Ward Churchill that only spews garbage.
Actually, ideas don't have to work in the real world to be accepted by ignorant rednecks, either. Bush wouldn't have made it without the howling, myth-believing, hating rednecks, who reject truth in favor of ignorance and macho fantasies that are totally out of touch with the real world. Hate is a redneck's middle name. Fascism wouldn't succeed without the peasant followers who prefer beliefs over the truth.
^Kerry lost.
If I had to stand before a dozen terrorists who threaten my life, I'd choose a half dozen rednecks to back me up.
You might be a redneck if ..... it never occurred to you to be offended by the words, "one nation under God ..... you've never protested about seeing the Ten Commandments posted in public places ...... you still say "Christmas" instead of "Winter Festival ....... you bow your head when someone prays ...... you stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem ....... you treat our soldiers with great respect, and always have ...... you've never burned an American flag ....... you know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so no matter who is listening ..... you respect your elders and expect your kids to do the same ... you'd give your last dollar to a friend.
Inbreeding,if practised repeatedly, typically leads to a reduction in mental ability and cultural diversity. Inbreeding often leads to conservativism, reduced health and fitness (called consanguinity depression); however, livestock breeders often practice inbreeding, then cull unfit offspring, especially when they are trying to create redneck, conservatives.
I hate the Iraqi war as much as anyone else, but it's happening and now we must (AS AMERICANS) all stand together and pray that our military prevail. You talk of rednecks but so called Democrats talk of peace, no war, but their words and actions show violence and hatred against those who voted for bush. Just like the man that tried to run a woman and her children off the road because she had a bumper sticker that supported bush/chaney. This is not the only case of violence aganist bush supporters, it's happening all the time every where around this country. Where's the so called peaceful democrats that don't believe in violence?
You might be a redneck if: you're convinced that you are God's gift to mankind...but you're not.
And as for your stories about all the rednecks being victimized by the hippies: pure, absolute bullshit. Haters, like youself, always make up childish, nonsense stories to demonize people with different beliefs. One minute, you're praising rednecks for their violent tendencies, the next, they are poor little victims, being harrassed by all those nasty vegetarians. Who do you think you are fooling?
I think referring to blue collar Americans as red necks is offensive. The term red neck could be derogatory if there weren’t ignorant ass people that thought being uneducated and poor is cool & didn’t mind referring to themselves as red necks. I came from a blue-collar family and I would never be so spiteful as to refer to any hard working American as a red neck. The people I refer to as red necks are living in a trailer, eating mayonnaise sandwiches, subsisting on nothing more than $6,000 worth of welfare annually and whatever they can pull together on the dirty crank they make in their bath tubs and sell indiscriminately to elementary school students. There is an obvious distinction between this type of person and a working class person.
I'd choose a half dozen rednecks to back me up. I don't know about that, anyone remember the movie Deliverance. The last place I'd want rednecks is BEHIND me.
Runyon: Stop distorting the truth. From your own article: "A lot of our Democrats that had Kerry stickers came across people who got very aggressive," Murphy said. "They were having their cars keyed, having cars come up very close to them. We've had situations where people curse at them, give hand gestures because of what they have on their car." Firstly, this is ONE incident. You made it sound like it was many Democrats, all across the nation, getting violent with Republicans. Secondly, you didn't mention that it goes the other way, too. Your intent, apparently, was to unfairly, and untruthfully, smear Democrats as a group.
Well then you just shot down your own premise, because most people on welfare would vote democrat of course!
ceejjj- 'most people on welfare would vote democrat of course!' Are you basing that on your own beliefs or actual facts? Because it sounds like bigotry to me.
And by the way, isn't the term redneck derived from people like farmers who work in the sun all day and get burnt? Look it up on dicionary.com It goes over the history of the term and what it really means.
I'm basing that on the fact that republicans are not big supporters of social programs and democrats are. Why would they vote for someone who could possibly cut the benefits they live off of? It's just common sense.
And don't call me biggoted, you don't even know me.
Robin: people on welfare do vote predominately democratic, this is true in every state and every election. It would be a generalization to say that everyone on welfare voted for kerry, but it wouldn't be too far from the truth.
Another interesting factoid: kerry won the highschool dropout vote by a good margin.
And Bush won the ignorant vote in a landslide.
And despite Herzog's assertion, people without a high school diploma went 49% for Bush, 50% for Kerry. Some "good margin." The difference isn't even statistically significant.
You're right cranky, the numbers you cited aren't significant. However, the *real* percentages are fairly significant. 54% - 46%. That is a statistically relevent margin. I guess the facts are clear: there is a clear correlation between being uneducated and voting for a democrat.
Herzog- I stated earlier that 6 out of 7 college professors voted for Kerry over Bush. I'd rather judge a candidate by who the smart people voted for rather than the kids that dropped out. Besides not everyone drops out because they are stupid, some of those kids probably had to leave school because their dads lost one of the millions of jobs that have vaporized during the Bush administration and they had to pick up the financial slack at home. Statistically the economy has always faired better under democrats.
Given the number of jobs republicans cost the working class during their presidencies I’m surprised working class people ever vote for them. Corporate welfare fraud costs Americans billions more dollars every year than social welfare, yet the republicans keep trying to pit white Americans against black welfare mothers. That’s the way it’s always been the rich keep the poor fighting each other so that we ignore just how much they steal from us.
Herzog: I got my statistics from CNN. What's your source? The Rove News Network? And since it's a dead heat among those without a high school diploma and Kerry won 55%-44% among those with Masters Degrees or PhD's then it's obvious that there is a clear correlation between being educated and voting for Kerry.
Rednecks are the only loyal Americans anymore. I tell ya I sent the economy into the toilet, got us into an unnecessary war, destroyed environmental regulations and set the educational standards of this country back many years, not to mention the fact that my abstinence only sex education will produce a stark rise in teen pregnancy and std rates, but all you have to do is tell those good ‘ol boys that if your opponent is elected then some gay people might get married and they turn out to support you in scores. God bless America.
