COMMENTS:
I'd say the most ACCURATE portrayal of soldiers in WWII would be Saving Ryan's Privates as we call it up here in the cold frozen northern wasteland that is *arms outstretched for effect* Canada.

All Quiet on the Western Front, though it's about WWI, is one of the greatest war films ever made. It shows that innocence can't survive on the battlefield.

The longest day was the best i've seen because the others are all one sided in that it's a case of we and we only won the war kind of attitude.

The scene from "The Longest Day" where the GI finds Richard Burton's char in a farmhouse, and they start talking- I'm told that it's among the most realistic of combat conversations ever put to celluloid (this from my paternal grandfather, who was in the Royal Army during the war).
