DID GEORGE W. BUSH LIE TO JUSTIFY INVADING IRAQ?

[+] ballot by cranky
created Mon Apr 11, 05

From the American Prospect Online (April 11, 2005):

"A Gallup-CNN-USA Today poll at the end of last week found that 50 percent of American adults now believe that the Bush administration “deliberately misled” them about why we had to go to war in Iraq. It seems fair to say that the average respondent will have understood that “deliberately misled” is a polite way of saying the word “lie”; so, in sum, every other American adult believes the president and his apparatchiks lied us into war."

What do you think, did Bush lie to get us into Iraq?

Yes
No

Cranky stepped in do-do.

Well you're getting there. 70% in the UK believe Bush and Blair lied. Some of Europe is at 90%.
by keithsheen on Mon Apr 11, 05 7:02pm [+]

thc, why is it a 'dead horse'? Because the neo-cons say so? Oh it's two years ago. You know it was wrong.
by keithsheen on Mon Apr 11, 05 7:04pm [+]

Its because thc is a populist. old news is no good. it has to be new to satisfy his need to be popular. If its old (regardless of how relevant) then it doesnt make him look good. Self defeating really! Was never popular in the first place.

^ I think what he is getting at is that bitching about it for months on BestandWorst.com isn't going to accomplish anything.
by RawIron on Mon Apr 11, 05 9:37pm [+]

^The man. Now, as for the question. Every other American believes that Bush told the truth. Also, Bush won slightly more than 50% of the popular vote in the past election...catch my drift? 90% also believe in a god...which none yet have been even remotely proven to exist, so I don't think using stats on peoples' opinions proves anything. Again, Id like to state I am not even close to full support of this war, but the left bias on this issue is appalling on this site.

Hasn't this been done before?...
by danny_mack on Tue Apr 12, 05 1:05am [+]

^Yes it may have, Danny, and so what? It should be hammered into everyone that Bush lied to us to get support to blow up a country. As much as you don't want to hear anything ever that's against Bush, the truth is out there, and it doesn't favor what Bush said. He's a liar, and that should never be forgotten.
by xxxxxxxx on Tue Apr 12, 05 4:30am [+]

btw, Danny, if Bill Clinton, Al Gore, or John Kerry were President and led us into war based almost wholly on lies, you would never shut up about it on here, and you know that.
by xxxxxxxx on Tue Apr 12, 05 4:32am [+]

The thing I find most disturbing is that this sort of behavior has now become acceptable by the U.S. citizens. This Junta has absolutely no accountability for it's actions anymore. Deception has become the status quo as we turn a blind eye.

Speaking of CletuSlackedJawYokel I'm going to make a ballot about peoples choices for thier names at B&W for anybody interested in changing the channel. It's probably been done but hey ... it can't be as old as this ballot subject.

populist? Buy a dictionary.
by thc2883 on Tue Apr 12, 05 8:01pm [+]

As long as those responsible remain unaccountable, this issue is not a dead horse.
by Cathexis on Wed Apr 13, 05 11:29am [+]

Bush lied kids died. Squawk. Bush is bin Ladens butt buddy. brawk. I parrot every stupid damn thing any shitty lefty says just to appear smart.
by xxxxxxxx on Thu Apr 14, 05 2:52am [+]

Council and Cathexis.

Then I hope that you and your cohorts are in the forefront of the challenge to the illegal air war in Kosovo. Clinton committed NATO to a war of agression which violates the specific charter of mutual self-defense with the ruse of mass graves.

How many mass graves have they uncovered there? Huh loudmouths? don't know?

You don't care anymore about exposing illegal American wars than you do about ensuring that Ken Lay keeps the money he stole.

"You don't care anymore about exposing illegal American wars than you do about ensuring that Ken Lay keeps the money he stole."
by xxxxxxxx on Thu Apr 14, 05 4:19pm [+]

WTF did you mean by that?! Yeah, the DEMS are the ones who were friendly with Ken Lay. Fucking idiot.
by xxxxxxxx on Fri Apr 15, 05 1:07am [+]

Counciltucky, you are amazingly inconsiderate. You think that calling names and belittling people is the way to win your arguments?

I say that Ken Lay and Enron types gave as much money to the Dems as they did to Republicans. It is a matter of public record. But in your fantasy world of "everything Dem good , everything Dem bad" just can't be supported by the facts.

Let us talk of Global Crossing and Terry McAuliffe's taking many millions of dollars from the bank rupt company.

That is okay because it is democrat stealling.

by xxxxxxxx on Sat Apr 16, 05 12:53am [+]

Then of course there is the leftist scumbag

George Soros who made his millions in currency trading that stole the pensions of millions of
British citizens.

That of course is okay because he now uses that money to promote baby killers.
by xxxxxxxx on Sat Apr 16, 05 12:54am [+]

"Promote baby killers?" I didn't realize Soros was in favor of the Bush invasion of Iraq or of Bush's Texas law that allows hospitals to pull the plug on sick children who's parents have run out of money.
by cranky on Mon Apr 18, 05 11:38am [+]

Don't want to address that little bit about George Soros do you?

Yes that law sucks and should be changed as quickly as you changed the subject.

Don't forget your mantra "Dems good, Repubs bad. Trent Lott racist, Robert KKK Byrd good"
by xxxxxxxx on Sun Apr 24, 05 2:14am [+]

i dont think its lying if you sincerely believe what you say is the truth. Bush was misled by faulty information.
by JasonB on Sat Jun 24, 06 1:13pm [+]

pene: What kind of argument is that? If someone else is inconsistent, that makes it OK for you to perpetuate a lie?

Nice moral copmpass ... not.
