WORKING CLASSES: WHY DONT YOU STAND UP FOR YOURSELVES?

[+] ballot by Steelhamster
created Tue Apr 19, 05

This is a sort of follow on from a previous ballot, by Cletus.

For too long, the working classes have been busy fighting among themselves as to who is to blame for their lot.

There has been accusations of racism, prejudice, affirmative action and so on.

Isnt the real enemy those who seek to keep us as a class at the bottom while they reap the rewards of our labour?

Just to clear up the definition of working class, as it may mean different things in different countries. I mean those who are working in order to recieve a recompense for their labour from a company or similar, this may be seen as 'middle class' in the US, but it means the same thing fundamentally

We have been conned too long
Capitalism is benign
There is no Working Class

COMMENTS:
Politicians and big businesses like Walmart are very good at convincing the working class that their enemy is anything but the wealthy fat cats.

The Union bustingWalmart corporation are just the tip of the iceberg, the real problemasI see it, is that many working class people fight FOR the very subjection, I and others of my view see as the very anathema of equality.

As long as there are 'Quislings' withing the working classes, this will seriously undermine the struggle for better wages, conditions and ultimately the people right to own the world, which has been avariciously divided up by the minority.

Great question. Unfortunately, I am at a loss to explain why so many working people fight for those who are bending them over the old apple barrel.

Yes, working people elected George Bush. Wassup with that.

This is an interesting question Steelhamster. I think it is a kind of circular reality: If you are the type of person who finds it hard to stand up for him/her self, then you are not likely to move out of the working class. So, the working class, by its timidity may be complicit in their condition,

I do hasten to add, however, that a certain amount of the political, social, and economic stratification we experience in America is necessary to the hierarchical nature of a capitalist society. Nonetheless, Americans can impact their lives more than most elsewhere, so as I said, they are complicit in their status. That sounds harsher than I intended, but I wanted to convey that element.

Excellent ballot question Steel, and yes, the BIG fat cats are very good at convincing the middle class and the poor that it is the other groups that are your enemies and we are the ones who really care about you and yours. Unfortunately manytimes members of both groups either buy into that lie or will play on that lie knowing that it is just that, a lie. Lets face it, the only color that is important to your survival is GREEN. However, there are those who have and continue to erect obstacles to prevent or make it difficult for those to obtain what that GREEN is capable of providing that is essential to progress, success, some degree of happiness, dignity, self-worth and respect. People merely want to be given the same opportunity as others without the lies, misreprestation of the facts, and to be treated with dignity and respect, nothing more, nothing less...Again, excellent ballot question.

P.S. and this matter isn't only confined to Race. Women, Gays/Lesbians, the Elderly, those who are overweight, and there are other groups as well...
by Barbara_Baby_Cakes on Tue Apr 19, 05 4:44pm [+]

We're too damned tired after work to stand up for ourselves. Most of us just want dinner, a couple of beers, 5 hours sleep, and then back to work.

The masses are confused. If ordinary people could recognize their individual and collective power there would no longer be any confusion.

None of this concerns me because I'm filthy rich, but I so enjoy seeing you peasants squabbling amongst each other. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

The U.S. needs to change to communism to teach these dumb fucks what hell really is. They will be begging to have the government (current government) back the way it was even with Bush. It is then everyone will see that Bush isn't close to being evil neither is capitolism. And I know cause i've come from a communism country, least here we can diss on the president and not get shot, and get a good job and not die, and able to watch TV channels and that every station doesn't show bush, back in my native country they only showed the dictator on TV, thats it. And here we have freedom there was the oppisete. So before you go whining saying the U.S. is hell and that you can't take it, think twice you haven't been close to hell.

I got other views. Capitalism was alway connected to Democracy. What a surprise it is that Capitalism can work under Communism too. Sneaky, but cunning Chinese.
