COMMENTS:
well, if they are telling the truth then they clearly have a legitimate lawsuit dont they? Im not sure how you could defend discrimination like that.

On the other hand i think the sum of $28 million may be slightly excessive, and motivated more by an opportunist greed for money than warranted compensation for any perceived slight.

I was not defending Dennys, I agree it was discrimmination, I was just asking a what others thought about it.

Of course they have a lawsuit, and I imagine this manager is history as well.

These kinds of behaviors are mindless and not helpful. What I think drives them is the inability to separate categories of experience.
It's a faulty logic problem. It's works like this:

False Premise 1: All Arabs are like Osama ben Laden.

False Premise 2: These customers are Arabs.

False Conclusion: These Arabs are like ben Laden.

Good ballot. Thanks.

This is one of many examples of Dennys engaging in discrimination. 28 mill is a lot but it will be settled for far less.

What if they paid the manager 2 million to call them bin Ladens and throw them out
by elvislennon on Sat Apr 30, 05 12:17pm [+]

Of course they have a lawsuit, but not $28 million.

They were probably kicked out because they were wearing towels on their heads and had bombs strapped to them. j/k

Dennys again! What's with these people?? Their food sucks, too. Time to close the place down.

For the record, in all seriousness, I think i'm the only person of color in North America who HASN'T been subjected to some form of harassment by Denny's employees. I've never once had a bad experience at a Denny's. Once, while traveling on vacation in Florida, I got BETTER service at a Denny's than a group of White customers. ?

It all goes back to the ORIGINAL name of Denny's Restaurants. Anybody remember.

It was called SAMBOS!

As in Little Black Sambo.

That's true believe it or not. I remember when I was a teenager that the one in our area was named Sambo's before they changed the name to Denny's.

In the mid 1970's they came under alot of criticism for the name from Blacks, which forced the name change.

So considering it's original name, the series of Racial Discrimination complaints
filed is not surprising,

Are they really damaged worth 28 million? Is every insult or offense made better by millions of dollars?
by xxxxxxxx on Mon May 02, 05 11:14pm [+]

Some of the Sambos may have been bought by Dennys but the Sambos chain eventually became Baker's Square. They may have been bought by Denny's in your area though. I don't see how that really matters one way or the other though.
