First of all, people have to stop being stubborn, and need to realize they can't always have the last word. Next, although BBC does need to cut some of his insults out, people need to STOP USING HIM AS A SCAPEGOAT. Yes, he might annoy you, but blaming all your problems on him won't help, it'll only make him more angry. If BBC offended you, don't go ranting about how terrible a person he is. Tell him that he hurt your feelings. The reason BBC is mad at a lot of you is because you never treat him like a human being. Instead of just telling him that you felt he annoyed you, you have to make numerous ballots insulting him. I'd feel the same way if I were him. If you want BBC to apologize, you're not going to do it by insulting him, you're going to do it by acting like a human being.

We all, or at least most of us, need to take a step back and realize that outwardly we may all be different and express different viewpoints, sometimes heatedly, but inwardly we have much more in common with one another than we're willing to admit, and that in itself might be a step up - or at least forward - into a new and better direction.
BBC doesn't annoy me nor he should annoy any intelligent user on this site. Like I said before, she is a clown and his comments hold 0.1% Intellectual value and 99.9% Entertainment value. What I have grown to believe is that BBC loves the negative attention so the best way to piss her off would be to not respond to her comments period. She has proven to be completely ineffectual in debate on any intelligent issues with the childish insults so why does herzog, thc, or anybody else actually waste their time and respond to it? I tried to talk reason to BBC and he is a stone wall. It is absolutely pointless to try to get BBC to see your point of view. Get over it, its just not going to happen. When BBC calls something trivial racist, its going to take a miracle to make him realize that he made a wrong judgement. If BBC actually cared and believed it his view on racism, he would debate it like a rational human being instead of being a baby.
BBC won't apologize, because he feels he is the definition of success - the perfect human being. In reality I don't know if BBC is male, female, a mutant alien from outer space, or even a computer script written by LCD to boost website entertainment ratings. It never showed us its real face nor age, so im simply not concerned by what it is. BBC will never change, accept it and move on. When BBC makes one of its infamous infantile comments on your ballot or to one of your comments, just laugh at it, ignore BBC's opinion completely, and continue with the actual rational debate made by the other respectable users like ZIG or Cathexis for example. When BBC can actually debate rationally and like a normal human being, then you can respond to him on a rational level. Same rule applies for all idiots that make fools of themselves on this site.
Whoever wants to provoke BBC and make him go off like a lunatic are free to do so as well. BBC happens to enjoy it and the users that provoke BBC happen to enjoy it, so both sides are happy and everybody else that doesn't want to be involved, should just ignore the comments instead of whining about them and this supposed peace between users. This is just an internet website people, nothing more, nothing less. If BBC or anybody else wants to act childish, let them go crazy and just laugh at them.
Problem is, all the craziness is making what used to be a fun and interesting website into a toxic mosh pit. That may be fine for some, but the atmosphere is enough to repel other users off the site permanently.
If anybody is repelled from this website its because they are not finding the main topics on here interesting anymore, they simply ran out ideas, or they are just not interested in the ballot process period. I highly doubt these little flame wars are killing the site or repelling many users. The flame wars are stupid, but everyone is just getting too worked up about it. I believe that too many users on here take this site waayyyy too seriously.
Not worked up, just bored with the same old cycle. As for ballots, it's not so much a case of running out of ideas as it is a reluctance to see them be sabotaged by users intent on waging endless war.
If that is the case, then the ballot creator should have complete control to zap offensive comments or choices on their ballot at will. So the people who don't mind the flame war don't have to get rid of the comments and the people who are disturbed by a couple of stupid text comments can zap them, and they can have their own pleasant ballot.
Might be an idea.
I don't mind a few flames in the spirit of debate, but when gasoline gets chucked around ad hominem and off-topic, it gets a bit too incendiary for some tastes and whoosh goes the ballot.
