AM I GOING CRAZY OR DID THIS REALLY HAPPEN?

[+] serious ballot by larrynelmira
created Thu May 05, 05

I never believed in Ghost, but my therapist "yes I have one, which might put the final pieces in the puzzle for some of you"

But anyways, he told me to write a letter to my mother, clear my mind of things I've wanted to say but never had the chance.

OK, I did that, and placed the letter in a pocket book that belonged to her.

Long story short, the letter is now gone, my dad said he had not taken it and there is no one else that could have.

MY question is, could it be possible?

I know this might sound like a joke ballot, but it really isn't, it's a true story.

My dad says I must have mistaken what I did with the letter, nice way of saying I lost my mind. I know I placed the letter in the purse.

So there are only two answers, either I'm crazy and thought I wrote and placed the letter there, or somehow, it was removed.

crazy
not crazy
No, your mom still loves you.

COMMENTS:
I usually would never make a ballot about my mom,I would never want to make it seem as though I'm disrespecting her, but this is really a mystery for me
by larrynelmira on Thu May 05, 05 7:07am [+]

If true, it really doesnt surprise me. I've heard of things stranger.

If false though, not funny. It's the pranksters and hoaxes that give the whole 'ghost' thing a bad rap.
by CuriousCow on Thu May 05, 05 7:19am [+]

You'd also be surprised how many doctors and psychologists would acknowledge the paranormal. My mom even had an eye doctor ask her if she was psychic. He said the color pattern in her eyes matched those of people who have displayed psychic abilities.
by CuriousCow on Thu May 05, 05 7:23am [+]

I would never joke about my mom or anything concerning her curious.
by larrynelmira on Thu May 05, 05 7:25am [+]

That's cool. I dont blame you.

Have you looked for the note any, just to make absolutely certain you didnt forget to put it in the pocket book?

In the houes I used to live it, my sister's car keys would come up missing all the time. It would baffle her because she always put them in a little wooden box as soon as she got home. She'd look and look for them to no avail. Later that day she would look in the box again and they would be there. She had several strange things happen in that house.
by CuriousCow on Thu May 05, 05 7:38am [+]

yes, I searched the house, it's not here. Her purse was in a closet, it's never touched, all her items still in it. I don't know how I could possibly be mistaken about putting it in there. That was the first time I even looked in it since her death
by larrynelmira on Thu May 05, 05 7:52am [+]

Strange indeed. I wonder where things like that (the note, car keys, etc..) go when they disappear like that.
by CuriousCow on Thu May 05, 05 8:04am [+]

I don't believe in the paranormal, but this is very strange.

After my mother-in-law died, I had a dream of her taking my head in her hands and telling me NOT TO BE UNHAPPY. The same year, I went to a tropical island and a hummingbird hovered right in front of my face - so close I could feel the wind from its wings. I couldn't help but wonder if that was Diana, too.

There are many things we don't understand. Larry, I hope you have a dream about her. She may provide an answer.
by mojo on Thu May 05, 05 8:07am [+]

You're right Mojo, there's so much that we cant begin to fathom.

Towards the end of my sister's grandmother-in-law's funeral, her husband noticed that the small flower on his lapel was missing. After lowering her casket into the ground, he saw what looked like his flower laying on her casket. It wasnt there before and didnt look anything like any of the other flowers in the arrangements. He looked around and all the other men still had theirs on. He could only conclude that the flower on the casket was his, but how it got there remains a mystery. My sister claims that she can even smell the grandmother's perfume on occasion.
by CuriousCow on Thu May 05, 05 8:16am [+]

I don't think you are crazy, nor do I believe this really happened. I'm not a believer in the supernatual. I sometimes think about it hoping that it is real, but I ultimately come to realize that it isn't. I don't want to comment on what I truly think happened with the letter because this is a very delicate issue and I don't want to hurt your feelings.

As for signs like the grandmother perfume and the Hummingbird, I believe they have to do with your repressed memories of your loved ones instead of some sort of spirit or ghost as people claim.

When people think about death, some think that the loved one that died is trapped in the spirit realm or in some sort of endless pain whether it be emotionally or physically and that is not the case. People that are dead don't even that they are dead. If there was someway to magically restore someone to life, they would probably claim that it felt like they were sleeping maybe feeling some pain before they fell asleep.

Many people don't realize that they are also sad about death for selfish reasons. They realize that they have lost a vital friend that has made them happy and has given them warmth in some shape or form, and they are miserable that they aren't recieving that much love any more or any love at all any more in some cases.

I believe that the person in the least amount of pain in the entire death process is the person that died because they feel nothing and they have no clue of what is going on. Death is horrible and as hard is this may sound, you have to remember the good times with the person and move on in your life with your chin up.
by cracked_bulb on Thu May 05, 05 8:52am [+]

more or less you are calling me a liar, , so only conclusion I can have is that, I am crazy, because I did not lie about the letter.

by larrynelmira on Thu May 05, 05 9:05am [+]

that's really a scary thought, that I have that problem
by larrynelmira on Thu May 05, 05 9:14am [+]

Larry, Your therapist suggested this to ease your mind. You're not a liar, whatever happened, it happened for that reason. Some people 'without tact' or care for others feelings will always be there to knock what they don't understand. Ignore, If you believe, that's all that counts.
by InternalColonel on Thu May 05, 05 9:51am [+]

No Larry, you definitely don't have that problem.

There are many theories and opinions about what happens when we die, and Cracked has his own opinion, but that doesn't mean it is the truth. I believe life is eternal, but that is a belief based on my own inner faith that this isn't 'all there is.' If YOU believe that you received a communication from your mother, who's to say that such a thing is an impossibility?
Energy can never be extinguished, only transformed, so anything is possible. Just the way I see it.
by zig on Thu May 05, 05 10:00am [+]

no no no Larry. I believe that you put the letter in your purse, but your father my have taken it out and may have not told you about it so you would believe that your mother read it. Now I think im crazy, lol.

by cracked_bulb on Thu May 05, 05 10:25am [+]

I apologize for being "Mr Negativity" on this issue but I am just stating my point of view on this topic and if you believe that you actually made a link of communication with her, you would be expecting more of it meaning that this issue may not be closed for a long time.

You are right ZIG, energy can never be extinguished and when you die, your "energy" goes into the soil, the maggots that eat your remains, or any other forms of energy like a fire for example if you are cremeated.

When your brain dies and diminishes, all of your memories disappear and you won't be able to function in the same matter ever again. Its like you taking a hammer and destroying all of the components of your computer. Your data is lost forever just like your memories and sense of self are. Even reincarnation can't be possible, there are certain things in your chemistry that make you unique, those things die when you die im afraid.

That's still an opinion cracked, and you're entitled to it of course, but not everyone sees it in the the same light. How can we possibly know what becomes of our spirit, or that part of us which is our essence? We can't. We can only believe or disbelieve in a dimension beyond this reality. Consciousness may involve much more than the brain and that part of us - our core being - may be universal and eternal. I believe in keeping an open mind on this subject, but it's something that we will never really know until we get to experience it - or not. Ever hear of someone called Dannion Brinkley? Have just finished reading one of his books and... wow. The universe is full of wonders. 500 years ago man could never envisage flight. 100 years ago space travel was just a dream. So, how can we know what our spiritual limits are when we still have such a puny understanding of all there is?

Perhaps you should approach it like a crime scene investigator: who had the motive, means, and opportunity to remove this letter from your mother's purse? First suspect, your mother herself. I have no idea of the contents of the letter, but perhaps it offended or embarrassed her in some way, and rather than deal with it, she claimed not to have gotten it.

Second suspect, your dad. Could he have opened the letter to your mother, that you had written on his recommendation, and decided something in it offended him, or might offend your mother, and gotten rid of it?

Or, could dad have opened the letter, read it, and not been able to conceal the fact that he had read it, and then decided to get rid of it?

Well, who really knows, eh?

Other obscure and unlikely possibilities are "the dog ate it," you sleep-walked and stole it yourself, got rid of it, and don't remember this.

Or there the possibility of the "ghost." Hmmm, seems unlikely, but what do I know?

Interesting ballot. Thanks.
by griffon007 on Thu May 05, 05 12:20pm [+]

Interesting occurrence. I have no idea what really happened to the note. But I have seen enough, in my nearing half-century of life, to be open to possibilities.

Just because we don't know the specific mechanism doesn't mean a particular route is impossible. The deeper we get into Science, I find, the more indistinguishable it becomes from what used to be called Magic.

No one really knows what happens after death ... if anything. All we do is speculate. Thus, I approach this area very open- mindedly.
by Cathexis on Thu May 05, 05 12:23pm [+]

I don't think you're crazy and I think it did happen. The emotions you let out in the letter were probably very powerful and the love between a mother and her child is really amazing and strong and I think that bond lasts forever. I don't know where the letter went for sure, but I have a feeling that somehow it got to the right person, if you know what I mean.

by Truthseeker013 on Thu May 05, 05 3:21pm [+]

I know the quote's not perfect, but I'm kinda weak on my Bard these days. My brain's more involved on a science/math issue.
by Truthseeker013 on Thu May 05, 05 3:23pm [+]

yes ZIG, i understand that. I just want people to be aware that there is a practical side to this all as well. Too many people are so bogged up in religion and belief of an afterlife that it actually consumes them sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. I agree, its just a matter of opinion and I just wanted larry to consider something from a whole another perspective, but whatever we believe in that makes us happy, thats all that really counts.
by cracked_bulb on Thu May 05, 05 6:28pm [+]

im freaking out now...i sleep in what was my grandmas room. how will i sleep tonight?
by smallreds on Thu May 05, 05 7:35pm [+]

Man I feel for you. My Mom died when I was 29 and that sucked and I was an adult.

I think that many things are possible. In any case I hope it helps that you wrote the letter whether or not there are ghosts. Good luck man.
