COMMENTS:
Based on the description I am not sure if you are talking about UN or the CIA. So, what are you talking about?
Well, I'd be inclined to agree with you, if not for one thing. The U.S. is presently two years in abeyance on its membership dues. And that's ONLY because one of the liberals that conservatives love to hate, one Ted Turner, PAID those dues OUT OF POCKET two years ago. If you don't believe me, look it up. You can't claim to be a member of a club, not pay your dues, then insist on enforcement and revamping of the rules.
One thing conservatives fail to understand is that the UN was created essentially based on the rules and guidelines that the USA wanted. The current debate is nothing more than a distraction and a convenient punching bag.
Simple answer: No. The United Nations is a forum (however flawed) that sometimes provides the only connection between adversary nation: the only place where they can talk. And there may come a time in our extremely volatile world where the U.N. will help prevent a nuclear catastrophy. Does the U.N. need some reformation. Yes, but throwing the baby out with the bath water doesn't make sense to me. Interesting Ballot. Thanks.
Based only on what you put I would say yes, however I think that the exposure some of those people get to America might change their minds. Anyways the UN wouldn't be any less of those things if they were in Brussels, Khartoum, or Jakarta.
i HAVE FRIENDS THAT WORKED IN THE UN, IT'S COOL--NOT PERFECT, BUT OK.
I think the UN serves a very important purpose and we need to remember that FDR played a very large part in its creation. The US should work harder to have a better relationship with the UN and the UN should try harder to be more fair to the USA.
Fiddle: the US also created the articles of confederation. So we don't get everything right on the first try, it's time to do with those pieces of garbage: have a bunch of americans sit down and figure out a system that works, taking into account the previous mistakes.
What griffon007 said.
Yeah, what Griffon said.
Get rid of the UN. That was another of FDR's HUGE blunders.
The UN is obsolete as the US and UK have demonstrated. What is needed is a new alliance. I reckon the EU, USA, Japan, Russia, Canada, Australia, Israel and Iraq would make a good team. Like to see China or N korea pick a fight with that alliance.
