COMMENTS:
I would like to see the Karma system abolished altogether. That way, those who feel empowered to attack others can finally get a life...However, to answer the ballot question, "No." There are those on this site who actually attack other users' Karma for the sole purpose of spitefulness and harassment...Those users should be banned rather than banning Karma complaint ballots...A person should have the right to express or communicate the abuse of others towards them with the hopes of someone stepping in and correcting the problem...Excellent ballot question.

I have been hit by so much negative karma in the past week than I have in almost a year I've been on this site

But I'm not complaining mind you, just wanted to say that before the ban goes into effect.
by larrynelmira on Thu May 12, 05 6:35pm [+]

P.S. Perhaps if everyone was able to shield their Karma from being attacked by the abusers of the Karma system, the complaints would all disappear...I think that would be a good idea rather than abolishing the Karma system altogether.
by Barbara_Baby_Cakes on Thu May 12, 05 6:36pm [+]

Yes I would, they are dumb, stupid, and they are a waste of space.
by xxxxxxxx on Thu May 12, 05 6:38pm [+]

BBC, you are the one that used 7 aliases to downrate Celui, you shouldn't be talking.
by xxxxxxxx on Thu May 12, 05 6:39pm [+]

PPS. One more suggestion, maybe the Karma system should be adjusted to allow for users to ONLY give POSITIVE karma and NEGATIVE karma will be distributed by LCD...Just a thought.

It just might silence a few lambs...

Sorry about this FFonLSD, I will address this lie and move on. I know your allegation on this matter CRACKED, is a lie (who at this point will believe a thing you have to say?). Now, it really doesn't matter what you say at this point, because it is obvious that you are seeking validation from those whom you attacked on this site by spewing lies. Go ahead and continue, if it will get you through your day to lie, knock yourself out, you are so sad...
by Barbara_Baby_Cakes on Thu May 12, 05 6:46pm [+]

I like BBC's idea of only allowing good karma. If you want to lay into someone, do it in the comments. Negative karma is mostly used for attacks and bullying by people who simply don't want to see reflections of a worldview that differs from theirs.
by cranky on Thu May 12, 05 6:55pm [+]

I will repeat that I think karma is a good idea. It helps users to moderate some of their ballots and choices (at least it does me). It also helps weed out abusive and racist users quickly (although I am becoming aware that some of those are aliases for some user apparently trying to see who will rate them down). When karma is used by some to retaliate and attack - someone you disagree with, that is wrong. I think LCD has too much to do to hand out negative karma for every racist, offensive and abusive ballot or choice. I just know that I get tired of seeing the karma complaint ballots. On the few occasions that I have been rated down, I usually ask a superuser/friend if I did something wrong. I've never retaliated with negative karma though, that I can remember. If you turn the other cheek, the retaliation cycle ends. Why it is so hard for people to do that is beyond me.

Would anyone like to see a petition for the banning of petitions for banning karma complaint ballots?
by xxxxxxxx on Thu May 12, 05 7:22pm [+]

There wouldnt be a need for them if the karma sytem was so susceptible to abuse. Thats the root cause.
by kingAlfredTheGreat on Thu May 12, 05 7:40pm [+]

Yes, there's a place for everything, and a karma complaint ballot is just a waste of a ballot.
by nuckinfutz on Thu May 12, 05 7:56pm [+]

BBC, you couldn't resist, couldn't you? I'm sure this site takes you very seriously as well BBC. LOOOOOL, Capisca DingleSHERRY, Now that's RACIST and I'll take that for $300 Alex. I'm Sure the users take you very seriously. :) Now im done on this subject.
by xxxxxxxx on Thu May 12, 05 8:53pm [+]

I can't believe im saying this, but I agree. Chuck out the karma system. There's enough guest comment restriction by superusers that there's no need.
by smooth_talk on Fri May 13, 05 2:36pm [+]

You are going to need more superusers then to stop all the abusive, racist and offensive ballots, choices and comments.
by FiddleFaddleOnLSD on Fri May 13, 05 4:57pm [+]

In fact, I'd be likely to quit this site if I have no recourse to stop the sabotagers and idiots from destroying good ballots.
by FiddleFaddleOnLSD on Fri May 13, 05 5:01pm [+]

Here is a perfect example on this ballot:
WHAT SHOULD BE DONE TO REDUCE UNWANTED PREGNANCIES?
serious ballot by FiddleFaddleOnLSD
ACTIVE May 07, 2005 - May 07, 2006
Push Her Down A Flight Of Stairs

THAT CHOICE is offensive on every level. Are you saying that I should not have the ability to rate that choice down? I'm supposed to leave it to superusers to find every idiot choice or comment?
by FiddleFaddleOnLSD on Fri May 13, 05 5:15pm [+]

^^^ HAHAHA!!!! "Push her down a flight of stairs."

Okay I'm immature, but it's funny.
by xxxxxxxx on Fri May 13, 05 6:41pm [+]

It is not funny for a serious ballot. It is assinine stuff like that that makes me wonder why I ever registered for this site.
by FiddleFaddleOnLSD on Fri May 13, 05 7:04pm [+]

Ok, im sorry. But that IS kinda funny isnt it?
by kingAlfredTheGreat on Fri May 13, 05 10:43pm [+]

I agree it was a silly comment.

^^^HAHAHA LH666!

Look folks, this is the Internet. If you really think everyone's going to maintain their seriousness on a particular ballot, it ain't going to happen.
