MUQTADA AL-SADR... WHAT'S HIS DEAL?

[+] ballot by _Beelzebubba
created Mon May 16, 05

"I demand several things, including punishing Saddam and calling on the Iraqi government, religious movements and political factions to work hard to kick out the occupier," al-Sadr said. "I want the immediate withdrawal of the occupation forces."

I think both are good ideas, but when this fat, little punk comes out and makes demands, he loses all credibility.

Is this just the case of another silver-spoon, spoiled brat who gets in front of a microphone and acts like someone elected him to be in charge or is he a valid voice in the future of Iraq?

Spoiled punk ridin on daddy's coattails. Shut your yap.
Legitimate leader.

He's some fat cleric in Iraq that gets press coverage eveytime he opens his falafel-stuffed mouth.

I had to Google him too. A waste of my time, once I recognized him. If he wants "the occupier" out so badly, have him put his money where his mouth is. Put money toward training security forces, and maybe even enlist- did I just go senile and say that?

A lot of people in Iraq think he is a leader. My opinion of that is sort of irrelevant. I think it would be wise for the powers that be to listen to him. I might add that the US and others negotiating with him helped quell "some" violence and make elections possible. (big emphasis on "some")

I think that your characterization of him is just about right. His daddy was supposedly a learned cleric, but he barely speaks the language. (not that I could tell). I like him though. He makes support of the war a whole lot easier. knowhattamean.

Almost a year and a half's worth of retrospection later, inter_regnum, events make your posturing in 2005 laughable.

Perhaps the next time you're off on some unquestioning support of a Rightwing effort, you'll think back to this ballot and hesitate.

We can hope.
