Based of course on the movie National Treasure, which involves someone stealing the orginal copy to protect it from ruthless treasure hunters.
All personal politics aside (I know it is easy for one "side" to accuse the other "side' of destroying it) would you risk your life (say in a fire for example) to save the orginal copy?

Yes, It's too important not to
No, not worth it

To do that I'd have to kill every politician in Washington.

I accept the mission.

No. If you imagine you would risk your life to save a document that has been copied millions of times, then you have spent way too much time watching "National Treasure."

What is it Chris Rock says, "Get the ... outa here!"

Sort of fun. Thanks

Even if I had virtually NO chance, I'd try. Yes, there are copies (I've got one myself), but there's only one original. It's more than just a document. It embodies part of the history of this nation of ours. It represents those who fought and died to make what we have now. My life is worth it. All of our lives are worth it.
by Truthseeker013 on Thu May 19, 05 5:38pm [+]

Nope in the end it is merely a piece of paper.
by xxxxxxxx on Thu May 19, 05 10:10pm [+]

no. because theres laws after laws that is more important than the constitution.
by ickyone on Sun May 29, 05 11:36pm [+]

For me, there are two situations at hand, each with a different viewpoint. As a member of the military, if I were tasked with the job of protecting the document, even to my own personal injury, I would do everything within my power to insure the success of my mission. As a regular American citizen, if I felt I could stop someone without bringing harm upon myself *minimal force to detain without personal injury* I would do so, but if it meant my own death, not a chance. The real value of the constitution is not the document itself, it is the human freedom that is the spirit of what the document represents, this spirit is not embodied within the document, it is within each and every American. Our own individual interpretations of what the constitution means are part of that spirit of freedom, the freedom to choose, to live your life as you see fit, within reason.

its just a piece of paper like inter said. if we were really living by the constitution then there will be no laws.

like the constitution say you can do this, but the laws say that you cant do that. know what it mean? hypocrites! rite?
by ickyone on Mon May 30, 05 12:23am [+]

Of course I would risk my meager life to protect a document that has protected so many and has changed the world so much. Any patriot would do the same as I for a very similar reason
