"Watcher in the woods" isn't that the movie with the alien ending. I think I rented it on DVD and it had an alternate ending that had an alien creature that looked like the same creature in "species" when it fully changed.
Worst movie to watch before camping is possibly "Highlander". It has nothing to do with camping, as far as I remember, it's just an AWFUL movie.
