COMMENTS:
So, the Bush is on form again. He doesn't want to spend money on "destroying life to save life" huh? Oh really?! And what is Iraq exactly? Destroying life to, uh, safeguard oil reserves? Or perhaps simply destroying life for the hell of it? The guy is a retard. A Bill on potentially the most important scientific technology EVER is going to be vetoed by a deluded fundamentalist fool. Come on Bush supporters... Defend the imbecile this time with a straight face. I dare you.
yes , I have a problem with his statement also, even though polls have shown, majority of even conservatives are in favor of stem cell research I don't know why President Bush does some of the things he does
Stem cells can be collected from the umbilical chord AFTER a birth, or from a fetus that has been aborted, Im struggling to justify the above statement as I cant quite get my head around exactly WHERE life will be destroyed ??? The only lives I can see being destoyed, are the lives of people suffering from such deseases as leukaemia who's lives could be SAVED with this ground breaking research. IMO the man is quite obviously away with the fairies at times.
I understand old folks resisting these types of dramatic advances in science, a long time ago they couldn't imagine life without owning slaves but they changed. They'll die out though, and in the next few years it'll happen, everyone will start to realize how this will change healthcare.. healthcare for the Living people with the Lives.

Anyone got a thought about his dreadful double standard though? Its ok to kill civilians but not ok to harvest stem cells from a blastocyst. The man needs help.
In the face of extraordinary advances in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of human diseases, devastating illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and diseases of the nervous system, such as Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease, continue to deprive people of health, independence, and well-being. Research in human developmental biology has led to the discovery of human stem cells (precursor cells that can give rise to multiple tissue types), including embryonic stem (ES) cells, embryonic germ (EG) cells, fetal stem cells, and adult stem cells. Recently, techniques have been developed for the in vitro culture of stem cells, providing unprecedented opportunities for studying and understanding human embryology. As a result, scientists can now carry out experiments aimed at determining the mechanisms underlying the conversion of a single, undifferentiated cell, the fertilized egg, into the different cells comprising the organs and tissues of the human body. Although it is impossible to predict the outcomes, scientists and the public will gain immense new knowledge in the biology of human development that will likely hold remarkable potential for therapies and cures.
Yeah, like, thanks UncleRandy. Tch. Anyone out there who doesn't think they're talking to clueless 4th graders? The ballot is not "What is all this Stem Cell stuff about then?" it is about Bush's hypocritical attitude towards tax payers money and where it should be spent: Ok to spend you tax dollars on killing Iraqi citizens but not on vital research that could help millions of people all over the world. See my point?
hmm, killing some goo in a jar to save a kid from living with cancer their whole lives... Or killing over 22,000 civilians.. wait, I forgot what for, I'm tired.

No public money will be used, so I assume private money can be? Will this mean treatments for diabetes, Parkinsons and Alzeimers will only be available tothose most able to pay for it? In the land where all men are equal, I guess some are still more equal than others.
wealthy people who need this, will just go to korea or other countries that are working on stem cell research, people who are not wealthy will just have to die or suffer with their disease, another form of outsourcing I guess, which seems to be what President Bush does best
The man is a walking double standard. During the election, he allows his "friends" to pay for ads that smear a man who served his country while he himself ducked serving. He professes to champion the causes of "freedom and democracy" while his cronies in congress seek to water down those by injudicious use of the Heil Hit- uh, Patriot Act.
Left wing commies Nancy Reagan and Orrin Hatch are in favor of stem cell research, as is Arnold Schwarzenegger. No wonder Dictator George is fighting so strongly against it, if those liberals are for it.
Anyone notice the distinct lack of Bush's usually rabid followers? Ha!
