COMMENTS:
The most recent plane that entered the restricted airspace around Washington DC lost its transponder and radio signal because of the weather, and was also unable to see the warning lasers that were set up around the restricted airspace for the same reason. I don't think it's fair for pilots to lose their lives under unavoidable circumstances like this.
Pilots don't stray into restricted airspace unless told to so by Usama bin Laden, Prince Abdullah or Dick Cheney.
Of course the average time for a rogue plane to be shot down above major cities in the USA is 15 minutes. However, the planes on 9/11 enjoyed freedom for several hours. And they were not passenger planes. I have the proof. If I get wiped out, you know why.
That's the kind of police state maneuver they would pull in the Soviet Union. We can't make the entire world absolutly safe for Bushy, at all times, forever.
After giving due warning, fire away! I haven't been through recertification in fifteen years, and I know that D.C. has been a no-fly zone since 9/11. Any pilot in the air who hasn't gotten that memo by now deserves to go down in flames. So what if the avoidance systems weren't on because of the weather? Keep a note on the dash- "Stay at least twenty-five miles away from D.C. unless I'm planning on going there."
They should be given a clear warning first, and then if they fail to respond, they should be shot down. There's a reason it's called 'restricted airspace' and not 'free open happy airspace, come on in!'.
Where would the debis go from any such aircraft, would that in its self not cause a possible loss of life ???
Minni: granted, but if the pilot had an ill itentent (ie a terrorist) then not shooting it down would likely create more damage.
thou shall not kill!!!
Yeah good question, the planes should have been shoot down on 911 anyway. Why didn’t any of the pentagon defense systems shoot the planes down on 911? Also any plane that goes of course and had its transmission cut would have resulted in some Military planes surrounding it. But then it could just be an accident like when the plane flew into restricted airspace and the pentagon was evacuated last month.
