ARE REPUBLICANS HYPOCRITES FOR THREATENING TO FILIBUSTER ON STEM CELL RESEARCH WHILE CRITICIZING DEMOCRATS FOR DOING THE SAME ON JUDICIAL NOMINATIONS?

Republicans have been deeply critical of the Democrats for their plans to filibuster over what they see as extremist, activist Bush judicial nominations, going so far as to threaten the use of the nuclear option (or nukular option, if you are George W. Bush) which would eliminate the filibuster all together. Now, Senate Republicans are threatening to prevent the up-or-down vote they demand on judicial nominations on popular stem cell research legislation. Senate majority leader Bill Frist may use his power to personally prevent the legislation from coming up for debate. Even if it does come up for debate, conservative senators are threatening to filibuster, such as Senator Sam Brownback, of Kansas.

Are the Republicans being hypocritical?

Yes

COMMENTS:
If they are threatening to use that procedure, even as they deride others for its use, then Yes ... that is hypocrisy.

there is a difference between legislation and nominations is there not? I suppose that you could dust off your copy of the constitution and read it. then you wouldn't make such the fool of your self.
