COMMENTS:
A hero does the right thing, no matter the consequences. Felt did the right thing. A shame that he thought that he'd be ostracized for doing what he did. I'd like to shake his hand. Who knows WHAT may have come to pass if Nixon had stayed in office.
Oh. I thought you meant the movie... Seeya.
Was Linda Tripp a hero?
Here you show your ignorance about Watergate. Watergate was a far different situation than Clinton getting a BJ. It is about a president who ordered or least knew of a break-in of the Democratic headquarters (a felony), tried to cover it up (a felony), tried to fire (fired two attorny generals, until Robert Bork did it) the special prosecutor assigned to the case (subverting justice), had subordinates lie before congress (a felony) and so on. Way different than lying about a blow job and a cigar.
and btw, Only two FBI officers were ever convicted for the numerous crimes carried out under the CoIntelPro program. One of them was W. Mark Felt. RONALD REAGAN pardoned him.
This man was also convicted of harassing leftists foreign nationals. He was later pardoned by Reagan, so lets see...back in 86 he AND Reagan were lying scumbags. Now only Reagan is a lying scumbag I guess.
Yes of course Linda Tripp wasn't a hero, how silly of you to mention that. It was just LYING UNDER OATH ABOUT A LITTLE COCKSUCKING CLINTON GOT ON THE SIDE TO A GRAND JURY. No, it is sometimes a hero who does the right thing (like telling on Nixon) and then there is political opportunists who only want to bring down a good old boy like Clinton. Of course there was no war started in Yugoslavia that was 1. Illegal (violated Nato's defense only clause) 2. Immoral (indiscriminately targeted civilians with bombs. 3. Preemptive (noone outside of Yugoslavia had been attacked) 4. Unilateral (we are always being told that Nato is only the US' tool so...). 5. oh forget it it was just about cocksucking.
All the things you mention about Yugoslavia are true about Iraq. But Clinton didn't lie to congress and the American people about the reasons for doing what we did. Yes, Clinton did lie under oath about sex, but that is far less serious than what Nixon did. Clinton didn't try to fire Ken Starr, did he?
fiddle heres where you showed your ignorance of me. You told me nothing I didnt know. Thanks a million.
Inter, surely you aren't trying to argue that bombing Bosnia wasn't the right thing to do? This little war might have prevented WWIII. Lots of reasons, and you know them all. That's why I'm surprised to find you taking a negative position on this. And if we do not succeed in Iraq, it may have global consequences as well. I think Bush (or whoever stands in for him at war council meetings) could have learned a bit about waging war from Clinton's folks: Bomb 'em until they surrender, and then clean up with a relatively small occupation force. Might not have worked, but we'll never know because we didn't try. Too often, all of us get excited and end up arguing extreme positions that just don't work. Don't exclude myself from this diagnosis, but we can do better.
Linda Tripp was a ho. Close, but not quite the same thing.
Linda Tripp ... I am amazed that question was even asked. It shows just how deep the inoctrination has gone when these two are equated.
Griffon, yes I am arguing that attacking Bosnia and Kosovo was the wrong thing to do. First, how was our national interests at stake? Second if you are so worried about WWIII (which has already taken place) then you might look into the NATO Supreme Commander General Wes Clark's actions. If it wasn't for the quick work and refusal to fire on the part of a brave British Colonel, we would have fired on the Russians. Now, I guess you can conveniently forget that the Russians have always claimed that they are the protectors of the Slavs (hope Liberal_Democrat doesn't try to dispute this) and that the Russians felt it was an imperative for them to go in there. Now that set up a confrontation that had been avoided for over 50 years of the Cold War. A direct military conflict between the US and the USSR in a "hot war". Don't tell me about the proxy wars. FIDDLE yes Clinton lied about that little conflict. He sad there was mass graves. Anyone ever hear the "numbers" in mass graves there? Hmmmn a little bit of tough question that I assume the knee-jerk supporters of Clinton will ignore. it was only about cocksucking, it was only about cocksucking, it was only about cocksucking, it was only about cocksucking, it was a private/personal matter, it was a private/personal matter, it was a private/personal matter. Wheew I feel better now that I got the "mantra" out of the way. Sooo, now the Powell Doctrine is the Clinton rule on how to win a war? Haha you guys crack me up. Do you only try to argue with the neanderthal wing of the Republican party? It sure seems like it. Bill Clinton never, nor did his "folks" ever have a idea about "waging war" except for cut the military to dangerous levels so that the money can be redirected to support his "Legacy Programs" like headstart and americorps. Look you, and your lefty buddies, need to start bringing more than condescension and lame vitriolic rhetoric to the argument.
Let us examine this here: Linda Tripp exposed how the President lied to the Grand Jury under oath, committing perjury, and she is a "ho". Felt exposed Nixon's lies and coverups and he is a "hero". oh I get it, there is a double standard here. Now of course ignore that William Jefferson Clinton, the 42 President of the United States of America was impeached. Only the second President ever to be impeached. Now you can legitimately dispute the validity of his impeachment, and you can mention that he was acquitted in the Senate Trial (as was Johnson) but the fact remains that he was impeached. Can't change the history no matter how much you try.
Now, Tripp just was a secretary. Felt had a sworn duty to protect the Constitution. So Felt is a hero even though he was convicted of high crimes just like Clinton? Back to that old question: I remember when Reagan pardoned Felt, and all the lefty knee-jerk one trick retards roundly condemned both Reagan and Felt. Fast forward from 1986 to today. Reagan is STILL A SCUMBAG BUT FELT IS A HERO. No, no double standard here.
Never, Inter, in my wildest imagination could I feature you coming out so..so, angry, rude, nasty and just downright off the hook about anything (i.e., "it was only about, it was only about!"). Jeees! Get a grip, guy! Try to remember that all these forums are tempests in teapots. And, in the final analysis, "it don't mean nothin'." Rough day? Lose a bit in the market? What? Still on my "A" list, but, well, wow. And re: Bosnia, the scenario worked something like this: If the Serbs move on the Albanians, then our NATO ally Turkey moves on Bosnia, which brings the Russians in (Serb/Slav majority), which leads to... Well, there it is. I understand it might well be a bit of a "slippery slope," but it definitely would have brought in the Turks at a minimum. So, perhaps we had to go. Really can't know for sure, but one thing is true: Whatever the Bosnians had going for them evaporated in a rain of American (and Nato) bombs. And, "no mass graves?" This sounds a bit like those mental midgets who deny the holocaust. No matter what we want to believe, there is the unpleasant existence of facts. I saw film and stills of the mass graves. Were they fakes? Or what? Well, not mad, just wondering what you do with the evidence.
And, Truth, I can't paint Felt as a "hero." We would need to see inside his mind to decide that, I think. But my guess is that he was acting out of some need to be more powerful, or to strike at people he didn't like. Perhaps not, but at the gut level, I have trouble respecting anyone who betrays the trust of their group. And, yes, I think the effect of "deep throat" was ultimately positive, but I don't think that was his intention. If Felt was truly acting from honorable intentions, why not out with it? Let the chips fall where they may, eh? Felt a hero? Maybe by effect, but not, in my view, by intention. A rat is just not my idea of a warm, fuzzy creature.
What griff you think that I am above the fray? How many times do you think you can insult me before I respond. Your interpretation of the Bosnian and Kosovo conflict is bullshit. Now, I notice that you conveniently dismiss all the other points. You get a grip. Go make love to a Hillary doll or something.
Goodness, Inter! Slip-sliding away, eh? Can't imagine how that came about. Too much of something or the other. Hmmm. Sorry you are so, well, whatever you are. Do you need antidepressants, or something? Goodness! What a wicked twist you give things...It's all fun, fella. Really, I'm having a great time. Hope you come out of the spiral. Really enjoy your comments.
Would it make you feel better to know that people that don't agree with your particular brand of politics are ...somehow mentally deranged? Would you be possibly feeling the bite of the attack coming from a certain right-wing talk show host? I am perfectly sane, yet if it keeps you in the upside of the manic state then by all means continue to believe that I need medication. It is funny really.
Oh wait...I suppose that was deeply troubling for you. I mean you ignore the valid points and then turn to ad hominem and then I am supposed to go "over the edge" right? I used to be a lib, ya know? So anyways, go make love to a Hillary doll ya fruit!!haha Do you feel better NOW?
And yes, now that I am back on my meds I FEEL better too, thanks for the reminder.
He took down a Republican. Ergo, he's a hero.
