Irishman Kevin McBride, fit, redheaded, and 271 pounds, knocked the remains of the once ferocious, unpredictable, and ear-munching Mike Tyson to the mat for the last time at the beginning of the sixth round of a scheduled boxing match. After extricating his head from the ropes and pulling his considerable bulk off the floor, dumb but loveable Tyson staggered over to his corner and slumped dejectedly on his footstool. Shortly thereafter, the referee asked Tyson if he wanted to throw in the towel, and he replied, "Uhhh...yeah?" Tyson had demonstrated real desperation during the course of the match, including head butting McBride and apparently attempting to break his arm. McBride continued to fight cleanly and fairly, and, despite being ranked as the underdog and the fact that the D.C. crowd was clearly on Tyson's side, he made a mockery of the sadly aging Tyson, who'd hoped for a series of seven fights to help pay off nearly $40 million dollars in debts and taxes. It was all to no avail. After his victory, McBride was quoted as saying, "This win was for the pride of Ireland. I proved everyone wrong tonight." Tyson's quote was,"I could have gone on but I thought I was getting beat. "I don't think I have it anymore." So, what do you boxing fans and others think about this turn of events? Great!
