SENATORS DISTANCING THEMSELVES FROM LYNCHING APOLOGY

[+] ballot by Cathexis
created Tue Jun 14, 05

On June 13, 2005, the US Senate formally apologized for having rejected decades of pleas to make lynching a federal crime.

No lawmaker opposed the measure, but 20 of the 100 senators had not signed a statement of support of it, shortly before a vote was taken on a nearly empty Senate floor.

In addition, the vote was held late that night, which avoids a real roll-call vote (i.e., individual Senators didn't have to vote up or down).

The mainstream media has yet to treat this as a news story. Do you believe the Senators' votes should be made known? Do you believe the 20 Senators who refused to endorse the measure should be identified?

Publish how each Senator voted and the names of those who did not endorse
Publish how each Senator voted, but not the names of those who didn't endorse
Do not publish how each Senator voted, but do publish names of those who did not endorse
Do not publish either how each Senator voted or the names of those who did not endorse

COMMENTS:
Oh wow politicians behaving as.....politicians. I would of thought it more unusual if they voted against themselves for a pay raise!

Why is it that when it's a white man doing this to another white man it's called a hanging and even carried out by the federal government in some states as a form of capital punishment but when a bunch of drunken crackers see Beelzebubba whistlin at that white girl it's a lynchin?
by Guy_Cabbelero on Tue Jun 14, 05 10:54am [+]

Actually, Guy, that was called a lynching, too. Anytime someone is hung through vigilante justice, it is a "lynching." Black males were the primary victims of lynchings, but by no means the only ones.

Constituents have a right to know how their scumbag politicians are voting. All votes should be roll-call. And yes, the 20 racists and or expedient dirtbags, who didn't sign should have their names publicized. Apparently, they didn't want to offend the Klan members in their states.
