COMMENTS:
The Scandinavians probably are.
Those guys have apparently never been to Georgia. Trust me, there are some WHITE people here, and I'm NOT referring to ethnic persausions.
Tje climate in Scandinavia is more temperate (more of a pronounced 4-season climate) than England's usual cool, dank weather and constant cloud cover. Thus, having a viable summer with plenty of sunshine, no matter how cloudy and snow filled the winter is, really would lend itself to a thickening (tanning) of a person's skin. This wouldn't happen in a place which is overcast and rainy for a good part of the year.
Well im English, and I have a tanned complexion.
No, that would be the Smurfs.
The term "English Tan" is meant to be ironic. It's a sarcastic remark about English people going away on holiday to sunny locales, yet they spend all the daylight hours inside of darkened pubs getting loaded. It also refers to the severe sunburn that many a fair skinned Anglo-Saxon brings home with him after a sunny holiday. As far as your not grasping the British vs. English concept, I'm afraid I can't help you if you're at this point of ignorance. You should have paid attention in History or Geography class. PS. By the way, those supposed tans you see English folk sporting: They most likely come out of a bottle or off of a tanning bed.
Sorry Kev, I misinterpreted your remarks. For some reason I thought you were trying to be a smart ass with me. Please accept my apology.
I'm way late on this ballot. But a large part of my ancestory is English and I'm very light skinned on the parts of my body that haven't or have rarely seen the sun.
Celts, or ginger people are paler.
I don't know. I'm Austrian and I am like paper white with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes.
My skin is actually lighter than my teeth.
