GBLT support? Yes.

GBLT pride ... probably not.
by Cathexis on Fri Jun 24, 05 10:33am [+]

I'd be in the crowd, for support, though.

GBLT support? Yes.

GBLT pride ... probably not.
by Cathexis on Jun 24, 2005

but the pride is not for you, is it? the pride relates to the gay community. we would not expect you to be proud, which is something you shy away from. great that you'd be supportive though, so i'd ask you to define what you mean by the above statement.

Right, Kev.

I would not walk in a Black Pride parade.

I would not walk in an Irish Pride parade.

I would not walk in a Middle-Aged White Guy Pride parade, either. ;-)

Generally, I am not a big fan of participating in Pride displays -- for myself.

Does this mean I don't support these groups? Not at all. But pride is another threshold. Now, don't jump to the conclusion that the only two options are pride and shame, either.
by Cathexis on Fri Jun 24, 05 11:18am [+]

I don't know what I would do
by larrynelmira on Fri Jun 24, 05 11:20am [+]

Kev: Thanks. And when it comes to support ... I will be there.
by Cathexis on Fri Jun 24, 05 11:49am [+]

Sure thing maybe I could hit my bi ass off some lesbos. lol!
by xxxxxxxx on Fri Jun 24, 05 5:52pm [+]

Already have, several years ago. And no one said a word about it to me. Possibly because most of the people I knew were marching in it themselves.
by Truthseeker013 on Fri Jun 24, 05 7:44pm [+]

No. The reason why: I think that Gay Pride Parades are over the top. In SF there are floats that are simply disgusting.

Maybe some other function. No pride parades for me unless they became a little more....wholesome.
by xxxxxxxx on Sat Jun 25, 05 2:31am [+]

Pride is a feeling of superiority which is not justified by merit. Anyone who thinks pride is ok is an idiot, so I'd be doing him a favour. That's what friends are for, for the good times and the bad.
by eoganan on Sun Jun 26, 05 3:12am [+]

Why the hell not im not insecure about my sexuality. I think this thing about pride is misleading. its about being happy about your sexuality. couldnt really call it gay happy parade could you. how about the Gay in your face parade lol. yeah thats it rename it. or the gay "F&ck you" but not literally your not my type parade?
by xxxxxxxx on Sun Jul 03, 05 11:04pm [+]

I got this message from FiddleFaddleOnLSD, a political extremist.

"don't be an ass"

So I replied!

"Pride = I'm superior!

It's arrogant and childish. The few people in this world who have the right to be proud (veterans, scientists and charitable figures like Gandhi and Mother Teresa) are usually modest, because the only people who have the right to feel proud are not childish and arrogant."

A gay festival or carnival is ok. A gay pride parade is just asking for it and it has nothing to do with homophobia.

thx

by neothe1 on Tue Jul 19, 05 12:48pm [+]

I think if a gay persopn were REALLY your friend, he or she would probably not ask you to walk with them in a gay pride parade.
