COMMENTS:
they bring attention to the problem , I suppose that can help some
It may not help, but it sure can't hurt
If they're going to raise money to alleviate it a bit, fine, but the idea that a concert can end poverty is really dumb. What a bunch of hippie bull-plop.
Well five billion watched them apparently, if that can't galvanise people power and by extension politicians, then nothing ever will.
But then again Ken, Nothing really matters, Anyone can see, Nothing really matters, nothing really matters to me --Queen, Live Aid (1985)
It raises awareness, but it doesn't solve the problem. When you feed the starving, you breed the starving. Education is what the people need so that they can better take care of themselves. Either that or let nature takes it's course.
It's not about feeding and breeding, it's about ending the poverty...period! poOVERty! Just thought of that, would make a gret T-shirt logo.
It doesn't matter how many people went to it, doesn't matter how many people watched it. It's like a protest sort of. If the man in the Kremlin or the White House wants to ignore it then it's not doing what it's suppose to.
It will be forgotten about in five days. G8 will do basically nothing of real meaning to address the situation.
We'll see, I can almost guarantee some major initiative will be announced.

It tugs at heart strings. And it sounds great on T-shirts. But sadly, poverty wont end as long as the population keeps growing at the rate it is. It's the hard truth that not many will admit to. More people are starving now than 50 years ago when the population wasnt as high. More people were starving then than they were 100 years ago when the population was even less. And in in 100 more years, it's going to get worse unless nature takes it's course. I dont like it anymore than anyone else, but it's how life on this earth works.
Yes and no. It will have no immediate effect but it helped raise world awareness of the situation in Africa. 50 years from now the situation will be exactly the same. It's the same now as it was 50 years ago.
Curious Cow says it well. The situation will get better when/if the population stops increasing. You can't just give them food, it will keep them alive and cause more population. It's a hard fact to accept but it's just one of those things that cannot be controlled. It's sad that animals have to die to feed other animals, but that's just the way it is.

I have a question.Bob Geldof. What is his occupation?I know he was once a singer. But now only when this "help Africans"thing happen.I see him on tv.I am just curious. And why all these Irish pop bands wanna help Africans?Help the Irish who lost their parent(s) due to the religeous conflict for crying out loud.
With the Labour Party jailing OAPs for being too poor to pay their Council Tax (which has vastly increased), it is quite pathetic to see Gordon Brown bragging about sending millions in aid to foreign lands.
People just went for the music and to see their favorite bands for free. Everyone is aware of the problem. Listening to music and smoking weed isn't going to do anything.

Voted : Waste of time
A total, total waste of fucking time. Just an excuse to get pissed and self righteous and to look like a cunt by wearing stupid wrap round red glasses.
