I figure that as long as physics and pharmacy salaries keep up with inflation (physics usually does and pharmacy is way above inflation), my fiancee and I should be able to retire between 50-55. This is assuming average rates of growth for our investments and the costs to care and educate 4 children as well as things like mortgage, insurance, car payments, etc.

Most of you probably haven't thought about this as much as I have (well maybe Cathexis and some of the er... older users).

At what age do you plan to retire?

50-55

65-70
45_50

It's not an age, it's a financial figure. If you cannot support yourself, you dare not retire at any age.

Actually, it can be as simple as a wedding vow..

I don't know if you've noticed the latest crop of youngsters coming up in our schools, but the level of intelligence they exhibit tells me that I have to keep working until I'll have to keep working until I drop (once I get a job, that is) in order to do my part to keep the world from tipping over into insanity.

Oh, and retiring at 555? I HATE YOU BOTH. (jk)

I'm planning to retire as soon as possible -- in other words, when I have enough money. My dad is very good at investing, and I'm currently earning an income, so with some help from him, it may be possible fairly soon.
