He was selected by his peers to be an All-Star, and this was announced after his incident with the cameraman.

Point-counterpoint...

-His record is spectacular (currently 9-4 with a 2.45 ERA -- the ERA is especially spectacular considering he's in his 40s and playing in hitter-friendly Texas), and fellow players voted him in.

-He's a poor representative of Major League Baseball, would bring bad press to the All-Star Game, and one can argue that someone who treats people like that on the job doesn't deserve to be rewarded, all due to the incident to the cameraman.

No, he doesnt deserve to attend as a player this year, he could attend as a spectator though. Just dont point any cameras toward him :-)

As a big time fan of baseball. I think if he wants to go to the All-Star Game he should, but he should also expect a media circus surrounding him and his team-mates. If he does go I wish him well. Maybe he will decide to just bow out this one and stay home with his family. It would give him a little time to reflect. Then he can serve his suspension then get back to playing the game.
