Can a white person (whose past 4 gerations and themself,where born and lived in africa and spoke an african language) in the U.S. consider themselvs an african american.

Can african americans consider themselves african just because of their skin color.
Either their ancestors were slaves in the U.S. or africans in africa, its one or the other!!!Don't complain about slavery if want to be an AFRICAN let it go, look to South African, only 11 years of democracy and less problems than the states with racism, we don't have a KKK!!!

First of all calm down. You seem to be very angry.
Another question I'm interested in is what do African Americans call a black person of another nationality...say a Nigerian who now lives in Germany...do we need a separate race classification for black persons in all the different countries?
I think they finally shot themselves in the foot trying to find a name they liked better.
I'm classified as caucasian though my direct ancesters were no where near the Caucasus mountains in Russia. Often my racial classification is white tho my skin is tawny.
Black people in the US dislike anything white Americans call them. They insisted on being called black instead of negro because of that and when white people didn't mind it the blacks decided it must not be good enough so switched to African American.

Interesting point, however many black guys I know feel many white settlers have exploited Africa and were never truly 'African'.
