DOES CALLING FOR KARL ROVE'S HEAD WHILE CALLING FOR THE CLOSING OF GITMO SEEM EVEN SLIGHTLY HYPOCRITICAL?

Here goes folks. Many are complaining about Gitmo and saying it should be closed. They say the prisoners are being treated unjustly, and some even claim they are innocent. They say they should be given trials and whatnot before guilt is determined. However, Karl Rove hasn't been tried or convicted of anything yet and yet many call for his head. Some even suggested he should be executed. Let me be clear, if Rove did this, he should be relieved of his duties and criminally prosecuted, but the hypocrisy in all this is quite alarming. On one hand, we have a man who allegedly put an individual and perhaps that individual's loved ones in danger. On the other, we have many enemies who have "allegedly" wounded/terrorized/killed Americans and others and, some of which, know vital information about past, present, and future threats. The hypocrisy is just mind-boggling, do you agree?

no, because what you describe is not hypocricy, it is consistency. the people calling for gitmo to be closed are not saying to set the detainees free, they're just saying to close gitmo and relocate the detainees. i for one support gitmo staying open and i also support sending karl rove their to serve his sentence.

Well people are probably somewhat exaggerating when "calling for his head". I definitely think a criminal trial should be held and let the things work out through the legal system.

Both are ethical issues. Which is more important or even relevant is up for debate.

I'd call it justice on both points.

Do you realize how many people died because of Valerie Plame's name being deliberately leaked? All of her local African agents and informers on the ground were killed. Karl Rove should be wearing an orange jumpsuit. He knew very well what he was doing and what the outcome would be.

Rove is a walking donut.

I don't understand the comparison between the detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Karl Rove.

I will say this, though. His character has proven to be beyond reproach. Some of the words that have come out of his mouth represent the worst kind of thinking in American politics. For example:

"Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers."

"Has there ever been a more revealing moment this year? Let me just put this in fairly simple terms: Al Jazeera now broadcasts the words of Senator Durbin to the Mideast, certainly putting our troops in greater danger. No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals."

"As people do better, they start voting like Republicans - unless they have too much education and vote Democratic, which proves there can be too much of a good thing. "

And now he's leaked the identity of a CIA agent. A real man would resign. And I don't know who "suggested he should be executed", but that is an extreme point of view possessed by a statistically insignificant number of people. Besides, time will take care of that, when the inner lining of his coronary arteries become so clogged with fat that the flow of blood into his heart is constricted to the point where the oxygen supply to the heart muscle is cut off, triggering a massive heart attack. -Which reminds me: Send bacon.
