SHOULD SUPERUSERS BE HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD?

[+] serious ballot by FiddleFaddleOnLSD
ACTIVE Wed Jul 13, 05 - Fri Jun 20, 08

The most recent ballots on which I have had ballot sabotage occur have been as the result of "superusers" adding inappropriate choices. I think that if you are granted "superuser" status that you should be held to a higher standard than the average user. A superuser should set a positive example of how users should interact, not add inappropriate, off-topic choices and comments to a ballot. What makes this worse is that superusers can make themselves immune to negative karma. So they can't suffer the consequences for what everyone else on the site would have happen if they did the same thing. Is it unreasonable to expect "superusers" to set a positive example? Should they be held to a higher standard of behavior?

COMMENTS:
I agree 100%. A superuser should not be abusing his/her power. They are given superuser status to raise the level of B&W, not hide behind karma blocks and snipe at other users.

it's my fault. My logic in making some superusers after they made donations was that if they were dedicated to donate to a site like this, they wouldn't be sabotaging it. I don't make people superusers for donations anymore, and if I find someone really abusing, I will revoke their superuser account.

We should ALL be held to a higher standard.

I agree with TS on this one.

Of course we should expect superusers to set examples, but we all have our human moments and are prone to err. However, if it is outright intentional & repeated sabotage, then the superuser status should definitely be revoked. Of course, in such a case, so might the account altogether.

I gave money, and I'm a good contributor to this site in terms of both intelligence and humor, so my superuser status is well earned.

As for "immune to negative karma," I'm not sure what you mean. I guess I could ban the receiving of karma from certain users, but I have never used that feature.

Thing is, there's no incentive to be a better person as a superuser. I'm still the same user as I was before, just with a little extra power that I hardly ever use.

I do use the K shield, mostly against other superusers, lol.

I am who I am, i never block karma and have never banned anyone, the big question I have in mind is what superuser are you talkin about?
by ABC on Thu Jul 14, 05 3:58pm [+]

^poodles, wow! it none of my business and i'm sorry for jumping in, but that was a bit harsh. nuckinfutz is a very nice guy. i'm kind of shocked at your outburst on this ballot. sorry. no hard feelings.
by Kev24 on Thu Jul 14, 05 4:08pm [+]

Poodles is right, I was verbally abusive towards her, but she pushed me over the edge. I tend to overreact a lot when people start sh*t with me, partly because I have a thin skin and partly because I've been having a terrible year, so this stuff really tends to get to me much more easily because of that. I think it's best that I take another break before I end up ruining the site with my outbursts.
by nuckinfutz on Thu Jul 14, 05 4:28pm [+]

^ don't take a break, just apologize and both of you start fresh. its best you avoid each other, but make sure to apologize to each other and then avoid each other.
by Kev24 on Thu Jul 14, 05 5:17pm [+]

I'm afraid there's going to be repeat performance, because I've had problems with lots of users this year for some reason. So I just decided to salvage what's left of my reputation. I'll keep in touch with some of the people here though.

well it helps to not go around telling people that they are whores and you wish that they die of AIDS!! (which you did to ME!! ) and yes LCD KNOWS!!! #1 I do not HAVE AIDS and two I knew people with AIDS and HIV and it is not a death sentence anymore!! There are advanced life prolonging meds!! you are so ignorant!!
by xxxxxxxx on Thu Jul 14, 05 5:29pm [+]

Absolutely! Greater power equals greater responsibility, and an elevated perspective.

Rank these abusers, I say, take their stripes and reduce them to beginner guardians! #:>)

why do I have the feeling this ballot is directed at me
by xxxxxxxx on Thu Jul 21, 05 12:40am [+]

I'm talking about people who sabotage ballots with choices, etc that don't belong and do it repeatedly.
