I've never received Karma from a "super user". So how did they become "super users"? Are they just selfish pricks? Do they have a Karma hacking program? I know most of them don't earn it, because I've read their comments (some have...don't get me wrong). I won't name names, but you know who you are.

The answer to your quetion my be the following. IMO
To keep this site going, LCD once asked for donations. It was the only way he could keep it going. So in thanks, for help keeping the site alive, LCD made those users who donated superusers. This site now has advertisement sponsors to defer the cost of keeping it up and running. Superusers still have to conform to the rules of engagement, so to speak, when conducting themselves here on line.
