note--I've done both, but have only recently developed the knack of laughing about the second one.
...and I still haven't developed a "palate" for the latter cathexis; but when you laugh about it...(my previous comment holds)...ahh, but I RUN at the mouth...get it, RUN...got the runs, oh, well, gotta run...:-)
let me give you an example...if a newbie user (let's just use contragrain as an example) griped because another user (let's make that um_yeah for the sake of the example)places something on his ballot that he doesn't like, he might say, "eat s*@t," and that would be self-defec@ting, but not self-deprecating. Continuing with the example, if um_yeah thought contragrain identified himself with the group he (um_yeah)had just said 'destroy', then he might say "hey, contragrain, eat s*@t and die" That would be brutally self-defacating; but still not self-depracating. Neither joke would be told on oneself. On the other hand, if contragrain, under this ballot heading, made a statement like, "boy, I really ate s*@t on that one," and died laughing, then it would be both self-defec@ting and self-deprecating, and certainly not very palatable, since it required "eating,"; but, it would still be humor.
um_yeah, as you have no doubt ascertained, I enjoyed this ballot very much, but, I wouldn't want to have lunch with you anytime soon. lol hahahahahaha
