To be honest, I find all this labelling stuff completely rediculous. Not even the labels, but the fact that people in the states seem to actually think less of person because they have a certain political view. I've never experience that in the UK. Maybe we are just more cynical of party politics. The partisan nature of your society is extremely sad and pathetic.

^ I agree, I couldn't stick a label on my political beliefs even if I tried. It is ridiculous, I don't want a label! and it always makes me laugh when someone else tries to label me. As Wolf has just said, we in the UK don't just dislike people cos of their political leanings. Coming to this site was the first time I ever witnessed this behaviour, it's not very pretty, I tell ya.

IC, consider it the U.S.'s gift to the world. Feel free to return it for the toaster of your choice. I don't think an American can exist without being labeled one thing or the other.

No you're either liberal and conservative and you should never venture from your chosen party's line or allow anyone to critisize your prescious leader. And all states should be catagorized that way too.

You are confusing me, Applerod. Are you making a distinction between states of being? To behave liberally, or BE liberal? I'm confused.

I mean, isn't it the behavior that creates the reality? Or...

Yes, I believe we are talking about separating attitudes and bahaviours from States of Being (ontologic).

One can like or dislike a person's *behaviours* but have an opposite view of them. Also, behaviours and attitudes can change/evolve. 'Who a person is' is usually fairly set.

By setting the labels in place, it becomes easier to polarize camps and demonize 'Enemies.'

Yes, it's called being a Libertarian.;)

YES. It depends on the issure. You can be a financial conservative and a social liberal.

You can be a liberal Lawyer and a Religious Conservative.

I don't believe anyone is 100% one or the other.

Being that "conservatives" are in fact not conservative and "liberals" are trying to promote "traditional values" to conserve things like spending, oil and the environment really flies in the face of the definitions of Conservative Vs. Liberal.
