COMMENTS:
That's a very expensive matchmaking service.
^yep
I bet her parents will be mad if they hear that LMAO.
Bang 'em both C-tucky!
You sick pervert, Guy -- I wouldn't disgrace them both and do something so low as to ... okay yeah I would.
Feminism is the right to make choices, including the one to stay at home.
And that's cool, cdub, but "a woman's place is in the home"?
CT: if that's what she believes then it's her right. I'm sure there'd have been no complaints if she'd spent the whole time bitching about women who choose to get married and have children and live at home.
The college as a matchmaking service is an old one. You might be surprised if the girl's parents actually know that that is what she is intending. Some people want to take different paths, and this is one of them. You don't have to be anti-feminist to want to be a stay at home mom. That is a very valid job, and why not be college educated to do it? These girls will be exposed to a whole host of culture, and education, and idea (even at U of I ) that they otherwise wouldn't get, and they will pass on those diverse ideas to their kids, and their kids will be better citizens.
herz: My thinking, though, is, why the hell is she even in college if she doesn't have a desire to use a college degree? Her line of thinking just seems archaic. And I would also think it's weird if she didn't want to get married and have kids and live at home -- see, there's a happy medium.
When I started college as a rising frosh, I met two women who were rising juniors, doing exactly the same thing (using college as a way to find Mister Right Wallet). When I graduated, they were STILL rising juniors. Sad to think about, isn't it?
To clarify, I have nothing whatsoever against stay-at-home moms. I DO, however, have something against the idea of "a woman's place is in the home," for it seems to limit them.
^Yeah that is sexist. The other is a choice which should be allowed like any other choice.
