It could be she may feel like you might think she was easy and this is her way slowing things down.
hmmm- try a phone call - messages can be ambiguous - you might both be reading something in the messages that isn't there. The tone of your voices, etc might convey things more clearly. Good luck.
I'd go with what lightreaper said. Sounds like there may have been a bit of wire-crossing.
Us women can be ambigious when giving out signals. She may not feel like it's a "date date" if that makes sense. She might be cautious about liking someone.

go for it anyway - if it's still not 'a date' on the third occasion, you've got yourself a platonic friend, or you could just not call her anymore.
don't ask me, anyway. I was 9 times your age when I first got to kiss a girl on the hand. And she slapped me round the face.
^9 times my age, eh? So you were 216 years old when you first kissed a girl on your hand?
^^^ haha - yeah - i was trying to do the math on that one too ....
Try looking for a girl a bit older...like my age. Just kidding. Uhhh..she sounds pretty immature to me. Or she's just trying to play hard to get. Don't mind what she says, I bet she's fully intent on making it a date.
I highly doubt it, Nikki. She sent me a message today that said that she is "not interested in dating or going on a date" (apparently "dating" and "going on a date" are two different things...), so that answers that. And she's 21.
So tell her "Well I am sorry, but in that case I'm going to have to cancel the outing. No offense to you, I'm just not interested." HA!
"You know this isn't a date, right?" ^^^RED FLAG RIGHT THERE!
