Music is an intrinsic part of our life, that Neanderthals may not have spoken language but were able to communicate via hmmms and song-like vocals. 2. The beginnings of speech in humans, as with a baby are more song-like than speech. 3. We attribute (often great) emotion to instrumental music. 4. Music can bring forth emotion and many memories, etc The book is really too complex to describe here, but it seems to me that music is an integral part of nearly every human's life.
