Consider a nightmare scenario in which China declares war on the United States and we have no plants or skilled labor to manufacture much needed war materials. Why should the American worker have to stand in the unemployment line because foreign countries use what could be considered slave labor, while all the while empty suits are laughing all the way to the bank as they betray their country.

Q: AMERICAN CORPORATIONS ARE GUILTY OF SANCTIONED TREASON WHEN THEY SHIP AMERICAN MANUFACTURING JOBS OVERSEAS. Y/N

Yes, I consider this treason
Not treason just capitalism functioning as it should
Not treason, just the market

COMMENTS:
This isn't capitalism functioning as it should because the market isn't free. However, this is a response to market forces. American politicians that violate property rights and make it more difficult to do business are guilty of treason.

Those fat, greedy Chinese bastards. How long are we going to let them stomp around the world like they own the place?
by Pig_Man on Thu Dec 08, 05 4:02am [+]

I hate to find myself agreeing with thc but he's right. The problem is the fact that your own companies are not competitive due to various things like tax and vat. It's already happened in england. After the second world war britain again became a thriving place to live. Until tax raises government fiddling and a general unwillingness for business to invest in new ideas led to british people buying foreign goods. Even now its cheaper to go to france and buy wine cigarettes cars etc than it is to stay here and buy them locally.

But LCB your a republican and they are the worst culprits. So because you vote for them, technically, you are that traitor :D
by mobsie666 on Thu Dec 08, 05 4:24am [+]

In fact its cheaper in some cases to go to france and actually buy thing made in britain cheaper than you can get them here. I dont know but im sure thats true of usa-mexico

This is not a matter of 'responding to market forces.' If it were, we'd see prices going down to reflect the decreased costs of production.

It is about pressing ever onward to increase profit margins.

And, in a strict sense, it does seem to quialify as a form of treason, since it puts corporate gains above welfare of the country and its citizens.

mobs: lcb is not a registered Republican.

Thanks Cathexis. I'm a registered independent who happens to be conservative on most issues. I don't identify with the republican party as most of them are not conservatives and dirtbags to boot.

I wouldn't go *that* far, but I will agree that it is not in the best interests of the United States to keep letting these companies ship jobs away scot-free.

Cathexis
Prices in a free market are determined by demand. Whether a particular good will be produced depends on the cost of production vs. the market price. If someone was willing to pay you $1mil to buy their groceries for them would you charge them $100, the estimated cost of production?

Globalisation, led by the US administration, is, like most US administration policies, short-term. Or, to look at it another way, it is EXTREME RIGHT-WING CAPITALISM. The middle classes, so many of whom were hoodwinked to vote Republican (arguably Democrats only 1% different anyway) are being sold out by their government. Expect the middle class to go the way of the working class - their jobs exported. By this policy the USA is as guilty as the likes of China in sanctioning so-called slave labour. And, as usual, the very rich get richer and the majority of people get poorer.

^By definition capitalism cannot be lead by the government. Much like Marx, you mistake corporate/government imperialism for capitalism.
