Despite Pat Robertson claiming that dividing up Israel is a reason behind God supposedly giving Ariel Sharon a stroke, the Israeli government is giving more land away -- this time to a group of American evangelicals, led by ... PAT ROBERTSON. According to a story from The Guardian (UK), it's some land by the Sea of Galilee where Jesus fed 5,000 people by divinely creating more loaves of bread and fish, and also walked on water. And Robertson, et al, wants to turn it into a biblical THEME PARK! A big part of this deal is that now, officially, the Religious Right is fully behind Israel politically. Apparently the full-fledged unquestioning support of Israel prior to this was unofficial... While the Israeli government is looking forward to the extra outside revenue brought in, Israelis worry that the sudden influx of Christians to see this area (which people estimate will be an extra million people per year) may backfire in that they worry that the evangelicals' main goal is to convert the Israelis to Christianity. Gee I wonder why they'd think THAT... Oh and this land is still disputed between Israel and Syria as well. So here's my question: What is the most ridiculous part of this story? Pat Robertson accepting part of a division of Israel. Turning holy land into a theme park.
