The 'unitary executive' claim is that the president, as chief of the Executive Branch, can employ unilateral actions at his/her discretion, without judicial or legislative oversight/ approval. For some reason, many Republicans seem to be unquestioningly defending Bush's actions, even though it goes against Conservative principle and is, at heart, un-American.
