Cuba was supposed to be one of the countries, but the US government originally denied Cuba a visa to play. My thinking is, why deny Cuba a visa? This is athletic competition -- pure goodwill here. I know the US and Cuba are by no means friends, but since this is an internationally sanctioned event -- nothing political. Major League Baseball is going to re-apply for a permit for Cuba to play in the upcoming WBC. Should Cuba be allowed to play? Yes they should -- it's nothing more than international athletics.
