We fill our water systems with agricultural run-off, in an effort to grow cheap food and maintain lush lawns. We consume as if we're 'bellied up to the trough' and suffering from tapeworms. And we have people in power who decry the smallest environmental awareness as 'leftist eco-whackos.' What will happen when it catches up and one or more of the following happen: * Potable water becomes too scarce to support everyone * Current energy sources become too depleted to support enough people * Pollution fouls living spaces too much to live in * Pollution or other factors kill off too many organisms (e.g., food sources) * Climate effects become self-reinforcing and/or cross critical thresholds It will never happen.
