Funny how people who've likely never been in combat love to second-guess those who have. Friendly fire is part of war, and it isn't just an American failing. When the shooting starts, the object isn't to "win one for the Gipper" or whatever other effed-up reason. The object is to survive, and you do that any way you can. If it moves and you don't recognize it, you shoot it. It's that simple.

Statistically speaking there are more gun related deaths when there are stricter gun laws. It has happened in your own nation. No spartan it is not really primitive when it is part of a culture. Texas has a big culture in that way.
I hate to say this but USRocks has a point.  The problem isn't with legal gun ownership.
Criminals (common street criminals - maybe not so much organized mafias or terrorists) in almost every case don't get their guns legally.
Therefore, stricter gun laws by their very nature of being 'laws' won't affect criminals at all...but law-abiding citizens who may want firearms for protection.
Well, there are many, many more gun related deaths in the US than the UK - disproportional to the difference in population. The US has about 5 times the population of the UK, but more than 40 times the gun deaths.
And that's just deaths...

^That's true but I think they're committed with illegal weapons in areas with gun laws that are simlar to Britain's.
In fact I've heard the gun laws in D.C. and New York may be tighter even than the UK. Seems to be more a cultural difference rather than actual restrictions.
Well think about this. I heard this I am not positive if it is true, but I heard there are more gun related deaths in Washington DC percentage wise than in Iraq. Which if true shows what happens in areas of gun control.
I think the fact that guns are actually legal in America glamourises guns. Gun shops, peoples' parents owning them when they're growing up, Hollywood, rap, etc.

well there have been plenty of incedents of people grabing there guns in the middle of a store and shooting a robber. It is not just a theory it actually happens. One rule that that I think is a bit much is in Texas if you are on somebody's property they can shoot you as long as it is not your back.

There's no way Washington D.C. has more gun-related deaths than Iraq per head, USRocks. This research was done by lazy people who knew damn well IMO that Iraq wasn't even keeping score as it were, such is the chaos there.
We're now getting what appear to be accurate statistics as the full-scale US military operations seem to lessen (e.g. Fallujah) - around 35,000 murders a year with Baghdad alone having about 1,500 a month.
I thought I read the other day that Iraqi authorities found the bodies of almost 180 young men around Baghdad who had been murdered with guns. This was in the space of 48 hours.
